What should be the next big thing?
ok, well money has been tight, but now its all good. I want to get something that will help me get a big perfomence in HP. I DD my camaro Z its 2000, a m6, it has hooker headers and borla exhaust. Motor is all stock.
Should i get a cam? i dont have enough money for a H/C swap.
So like a cam with good performence with stock heads would be a good way to go? I need something that can give me a good amount of HP without it having to make my 10 bolt go out quicker. ha. Not neccessarily so much jus that having to be a cam.. but any mods to do would be great to now, Thanks a bunch everyone.

Why not do the rear end? Insurance that nothing will ever break once you try and launch it hard or start making more power? If you the cam swap yourself its pretty cheap, Depends on how much you wanna spend and ls6 are around 700 i believe, check the for sale section

Well, I'll start from front to back.
Fast Toys Ram Air $200 (10ish hp)
SLP Lid $90 (10ish hp)
Get your TB Ported $65 (7ish hp)
LS6 Intake Used in Classifieds $300 (10-15ish hp)
Frost Mail Order Tune $140 (10-15ish hp)
So for about $795 you could gain a good 45-55hp. That list will get you into high twelves in the quarter on stock street tires and mid to low 12's with DR's
But with that list and DR's I don't think your stock clutch will take it. DR's like Nitto 555's or M/T would be $200 for each tire so $400 for DR's and about $750ish for a monster clutch package i.e (Clutch/fly/slave). So $1150 more just to run mid to low 12's instead of high twelves. You did say you want to preserve your 10 bolt so DR's are probably not a good option.

Let me get this straight; you don't have much money and you want big hp gains with out breaking your 10-bolt with a 6 speed tranny that are notorious for breaking 10 bolts? Also without beefing up the clutch?
Again, you don't have much money but want more power with out breaking anything? ON A DAILY DRIVER? Are you on crack? Meth? Speed? Do yourself a favor and keep up with the basic maintenace and save that $750 for when you blow out your clutch/10-bolt/tires/suspension/etc.
Can we please stop getting threads about "I'm a poor college student with a car I can't afford and want more power with 300 dollars"

+1 what he said. TB bypass which is cheap. An if your thinking about a cam after those I would look into getting a UD pulley and a better clutch LS7 and/or monster which I've been reading nothing but good things about them. Then for the cam you need LS6 Oil pump ported or non ported and LS2 timing chain, spring to match the cam and hardened pushrods. Put it this way it ain't cheap when you start modding and if it is done wrong then it could be worser. An also if your going to have the cam put in I would say get it dyno tuned for the cam and other stuff you have that way you can get the full potential for the setup you have and if your tuner is very good then you can have good if not great driveability. Did I miss anything anyone? I'm not expert but I've been reading and been down the half *** do it road and I wanted this one done right instead of thinking what if.

build it starting at the back and work your way forward, i.e. suspension, rear, clutch, motor. That way you won't break anything unexpectedly and can continue to drive the car.

thanks thats all good suggestions. i have a friend that has a ls6 cam that said he will give it to me for a great price. and that he said i wouldnt need to change anything else out but the cam... he knows his cars but this doesnt seem right.. and i know i would need a tune for it too.
I might do a little for now and save for something big like everyone said. I have a slp lid on it now. that should be good and ill do like a TB or something until i can spend a great amount of money for the car. I have 83,xxx that still alright for modifying a car with that mileage? it runs really great.

No I mean a "mail order tune" from frost now. After H/C I would go dyno tune, thats a bigger change than the standard bolt ons. You can send him your PCM and he will tune it and send it back. He might be able to send you one with a deposit or something but I dont know, I got mine done in person. It's a good price and gives power and drivability.

So you guys like Frost? I'm in VA and I'm getting ready to gut my cats since one is bad. I am planning on going to see him. He said he'll get rid of my CAGS (yay!), get rid of my rear o2 sensor codes, and a few other things to give me 8-10 rwhp. He seems like a good guy and its a really good deal for $125. Anybody have this tune? It will be the same as the "mail order" one.
