Default question on what i found today

so i was taking out my rear seats today to go to the track tm and there are 2 holes cut out in the carpet each under the seat latch. there is a big nut and bolt on. i was wondering why the previous owner needed to get to those bolts and what are they for?

Yup. Upper mounting point for the rear shocks.

you don't need to remove them, just fold them down.

the carpet is factory perforated for the shock access.

I just pull the carpet out and change it that way, no reason to cut the carpet when you can get access to the bolt without it in less than 10 minutes. (t-top car)

They are a better than stock riding/handling shock but not drag specific. Really unless you are a high horsepower setup you will notice no time difference just shitty street manners by going to a drag purpose shock (too soft). B-steins are good for a mostly street occasionally strip car.
