Default Did all 97 V8 Camaro's come with a LS1??

I am curious, if a 97 Camaro came with a V8 would it have been a LS1??

They didn't ever have one that came with a LT1 in 1997 did they??

all 97 F-body's are LT1's well there were a few LT4 cars too about 130 so don't worry about finding one of them. The Corvette was the only thing to get the LS1 in 97.

ls1 made it's first appearance in the 97 vette, not until 98 did a f-body ever receive one(well aside from the concepts gm must have built prior to release of the ls fbod)

you sir, are either being sarcastic, or retarded.

The LS1 made its first appearance in the 97 vette, while the camaro kept the LT1 until 98. 98 is also the year the f-body got the new front end (the interior and tail lights got updated in 97)

Yes ser this is correct. Also the LS1 in the 98 is different from the 99+ and then some changes were made in '01. Nothing big just heads, cam, intake mani, oil pump were tweaked a little or changed to the LS6 stuf

while you are technically correct about most of that, the head changes occurred in mid year '00 not '01

The reason I even asked was because I guy in my unit has a 97 Camaro, says it has a LS1, I haven't gotten a chance to even look under the hood yet but I sure thought he was blowing smoke up my A%%.
I was pretty sure they didnt get them until 98.

Just ask to see under the hood. See if it has the almighty OPTI-SPARK (said in deep movie announcer voice) of the LT1. Then tell him he is wrong. Just make sure you know what to look for so you don't make a *** of yourself.

If the Engine looks simular to this

It's a LS1 engine

If the Intake/Engine looks like this it's a LT1 and NOT a LS1

Holy hell do a search dude.

Engine type and year of manufacture is probably covered in 75% of every sticky featured on this web site.
