Depending on the track the f body will outlap an S2k, stock for stock.

Several of my friends have S2ks and they are really quick to transition but grip through turns doesn't feel as solid and it seems like they are more likely to spin when pushed, very touchy. Tracks with high speed turns and decent straights will be right up an f-body's alley. Auto x is a whole other story, but some people turn really good times with their cars. They're probably lightened a ton though.

I saw someone mention getting a C5 Corvette. Best of both worlds there.. Have you considered that? I haven't checked the prices on S2000s lately, but the C5s are getting very reasonable. Hell, a Z06 can be had for under 20k these days. Lesser versions are in the mid teens and lower.
What's an S2000 weigh? About 2700-2800lbs? A Corvette weighs around what, 3200lbs? Considering the power, comparable layout and not so drastic weight difference, I think a C5 fits your needs to the letter.
