Default keep the m6 or built auto.

Should i rebuild my t56 for my car or should i get a built 4l80 with a good stall?

The t56 rebuild is going to cost around 3000 dollars and is going to need a new clutch yearly.

The 4l80e should be a little less costly, but i have to get a few conversion parts.(crossmember, yoke, flexplate, shifter, trans cooler, ect...)

The car is a dd that will see a good bit of track time. The motor is a built 383 ls1 that will see a 200 wet shot at the track. Which would be the better more reasonable buy?

P.S. I love driving a 6 speed and would miss it, but i think i would enjoy a fast auto thats not getting a new clutch every year.

You should be faster with the 4l80, but it's going to be a grip for the swap. Don't forget you gotta buy a converter. I vote auto.

its all a trade off....six speeds are ALOT more fun to drive..the right auto setup will get you better times...so are you going to have fun and enjoy driving it all the time...or are you going to win races (thats how i decided the 6 speed vs. auto when i bought my car)---> i bought an auto...

Yea the auto is looking better and better to me, but nothing is ever going to beat the t56 in fun to drive catagory. Its just looking more affordable to go faster with the 4l80e.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/texas-cla...-your-t56.html Might wanna talk to this guy. Seems like a good deal. Don't sweat 4l60's, they've come a LONG way in the past few years. Unless you're plannin on DEEP nines, I'd go with one. They even make gearsets so you can change out the rations now.

i would keep the t56 for the fun factor but if your looking to go faster in the straight line auto might be a better choice.

I wouldn't be dead set on a 4l80. Talk to some of the vendors Like RPM, Performabuilt, FLT. I'd almost bet they would steer you towards a 4l60 given your setup.

an auto with a stall is the way to go for the track..but the stick is a lot more fun to drive. your 60ft would definetley improve with an auto tho

id stick with a 6 speed, and unless you cant drive a stick, i highly doubt the level 5 monster will need to be replaced yearly.

t56 all the way. Might not get off the line as fast as 4l80e but its not a full on track car anyways... besides, theres nothing like short shifting to 2nd.

Keep the t56 unless you plain to just use your car as a drag car and nothing else. I vote manual, just for common sense fun
