Default Losing or Gaining power?

I had to sell my flowmaster catback to make some extra cash, so I cut my exhaust off halfway down the stock Y pipe like a buddy told he did on his. Question is, am i losing or gaining any power from this? I would think with much less pipe i might be losing some torque but figures someone with more experience could clue me in

I did that at first when I had headers. I could feel that I lost a decent amount of low end torque and it sounded like ***.

Like others have said, you probably lost a little low end torque but gained a little HP on top. Same thing happens when you put headers on or higher flowing exhaust. Pop the right Cam in there and you'll get it back.

was there when i bought it, don't really dislike it and figured i'd leave it instead of paying 300 bucks in body work to get holes in my quarter panel filled. already gotta have work done where the rest of the holes were

but no more redneck tips sticking a foot out the back of the car, now all i gotta do is get rid of those rims and get my new exhaust on and i'll be good for awhile. i mean at least like a month or two til i'm ready to get 3.73's done

also, i didnt expect it to sound so loud with only 3 feet of exhaust. Honestly, i thought until today that LS1's with no muffler sounded like angels singing. Sounds more like the thunder of god laughing at mustangs

The shorter the exhaust the louder its gonna be. And its called a muffler becuz it "muffles" the sound of your exhaust making it quieter if im not mistaking.

Probably lost low end and gained barely any top end.

haha yea it's like how everyone talks about LS1's, you'd think you would cut the exhaust off and instead of rumbles it would be like mozart or something hahaha. This motor was touched by the hand of god but sounds like a bat outta hell

IF I have true duals, dumped via glasspacks at the rear axle would I be losing anything? I love the way my cam sounds like that, loud and vicious : )

You've got headers too right? I'm going with pacesetter LT's and a custom ORX setup with moroso sprial flows dumped before the axle, everyone tells me i should see gains close to 20 or 25 to the ground. I guess a cut stock Y with stock manifolds creates a backpressure problem??
