Default LQ9 or stall next?

My car just seems slow to me. I was thinking of getting a LQ9 or a 4k stall. What would you do? There is nothing wrong with my ls1. I've looked over everything. What would give me the best bang for my buck?

That's just it, I get used to the new mods fast. Then the car is no fun to me.
How much does a stall help in these cars? Is it worth the money?

If it's just a weekend toy add a cam kit with that converter and you'll be in love all over again. You already have the bolt on's to support it.

I don't have the funds for a head/cam package at this time. Maybe next year if work picks up. But for now, I'm looking at just a stall. Is a 4k to big for bolt ons?

A stall and an LQ9 are in completely different price ranges.
Get a stall period. Then heads/cam your LS1, then spray it...that should keep you entertained for a few wks lol

Stall is the single best mod for an automatic car period IMO. 4000 is perfect for a bolt-on car....I ran the Yank SS4000 with bolt-ons and it was a great street/strip converter. A 4000 will also give you lots of room to grow with the addition of H/C.

I vote neither. Save up to get both. Have a proper heads cam/cam only setup on an LQ9 (if that's really the route you want to go), and then get the stall to match your setup.

Besides, LQ9s are cheap. Shouldn't be THAT much longer savings wise.

I would say it about evens out for potential gains when you first get the motor in. But you are moving to a larger bore engine, so you have more power opportunities so that alone is worth it. Plus the ease of turning an LQ9 into a 408 is ridiculous.
