What the hell is this?
I feel retarded posting this, but I have been searching for a while and am pretty frustrated with it. What the hell is this metal pipe i circled in the attached photo. is it simply a radiator hose, i know it comes out of the water pump. only reason i ask is because my 2000 Z28 doesnt have it, only a regular hose. is it important? Thanks for the help.

lol guys, its a power steering cooler...the rad cools it down. i had to take mine off...it is more of a heat exchanger, it had two power stterin hoses mounted to the bottom of it that you cant see. they work for **** and take up room. but it is the power steering cooler lol

And I would disconnect that thing before it fails and starts exchanging fluid with your radiator taking out your PS pump and causing you to do a radiator flush too..... An all too common problem.....

If your doing any kind of road racing where the ps fluid gets hot enough to need a ps cooler, you have already maxed out the capabilities of the stocker.
As others have said, this peice is more of a liability than an asset because it will fail. Not "if" but "when". And it will cause more problems than it helps.
