Default will this add horsepower to the car?

I got a 2000 trans am procharged with 1 7/8 american racing headers no cats through a flowmaster muffler. what i am wondering is if i add a cutout will it add horsepower? or is it just something to make the car louder? Or another thing just to delete the muffler will add power? dont know the answer so i need some help on it. Thanks!

to the best of my knowledge in your case running a procharged with 1 7/8 headers no cats you will gain more hp by installing cutouts!! you will definitely have Maximum Flow and will be removing almost or all that air your pumping in and the flowmaster is definitely giving you Back Pressure and losing some hp!! guys correct me if I'm wrong!!

You have a procharge TA and are running a blowmaster? Well. I would swap out the blowmaster for a Borla/Corsa/Magnaflow/Hooker cat-back, have the e-cutout installed and you will pick up an easy 20+ hp.

Yea, cutout only helps if what is behind it is crap, in your case you have a flowmaster muffler which is really restrictive so it will add a decent amount of power, I would say 10-15. IF you like the sound of it just add a cutout if not you could just replace the muffler for a different sound and something that flows better.

Just for clarification, op you're talking about the flowmaster catback right? If so then yeah, I agree with what everyone else has said. If you have something like the single chamber flowmasters, they don't hold much back and you won't really gain a whole lot.

Yes, you will most definitely pick up a good bit of horsepower with a cutout. Go for it!

I hate a blowmaster. How I see it is this. How can a chambered muffler flow good when air has go around all these walls or "chambers"? I will only use a baffled muffler that has a straight through design. I am a BIG fan of Magnaflow. They are baffled and sound GREAT on everything I have had. And they are cheaper compared to Borla etc. And personally I dont see how any Fbody muffler is gonna flow worth a crap the way its designed. It has to come in the side of the muffler then turn around and go out both sides.

Yes, the cutout will flow much better than the Flowmaster catback, hence increasing the power.
