LS1 Trade-in Value

LS1 Trade-in Value
I'm just wondering if anyone here has traded in their LS1 before. What were you offered? I had my car checked out by a dealership on Saturday and I was offered a pretty good amount. Way more than the KBB value.. My car is somewhat low mileage at only 53k but it was still more than I thought I could get out of it...I'm just curious. Post up!

He kept telling me that they base prices off what the market value is. He said that market value isn't what KBB puts out either. Well, at the price he gave me I won't feel horrible if I don't sell it privately. Now he just has to track me down a GTO with everything I want LOL.

You aren't getting as much as you think on trade. They just won't give you as much off the new(er) car you're buying from them. You are paying for the convenience of not having to sell your car privately, and one way or another (low ball trade-in offer or paying more than you needed to on the new car) they will make the profit they want. In the end, they always win.

You have to be careful at dealerships too because ALOT of times they can screw with the numbers just to make you happy. Always better to negotiate the price of the car your buying first before telling them your trading. Because they can offer you more for your trade but not go down on the price of the car. So in reality to them, its the same thing as selling their car for the price they would be willing to take if someone walked in w/out a trade, and just add the extra markup to your trade so in reality your still getting screwed

Back in the day we traded in a POS for 3,500 Bucks. So they said. The car we were getting was 13,500. At the end the note was 14k. . . < Yeah, they said it covered the taxes and their BS fees.
****, trading in anything. Even if it is junk it is better to sell it on the street. ****, give to a homeless guy. . . It will make you feel a lot better. Or better yet, donate it for a far write off.
Stealerships are just that.

1. Performance and specialty cars CANNOT be accurately valued by any online site (KBB, Edmunds, NADA). Those sites are for 5 year old or newer boring cars and SUVs. Performance cars are higher demand and have unique buyers.
2. A dealership is going to show you "trade and savings" as your "trade in value". What that means is they tell you they are going to give $10,000 for your car. What that really means is they are giving your $8000 for your car and $2000 off their $2000 too high car. They mark them up on purpose for this very reason.
Any car older than 5 years you are not smart if you trade it in. Especially if it's a high demand performance car. There are buyers everywhere for these, it's not hard at all to sell them privately.

Either way, it means nothing until it's in writing. A random verbal offer is about as good as used toilet paper.

Wow, must be nice~! You's should see what fbodys go for where I live. Especially T/As, and even more so WS6 cars, not even mentioning Firehawks. It's CRAZY I tell you what people will pay up here. Look on the autotrader website-just add the dot ca on the end (not dot com) and look up Ontario Trans Ams. I'll try to post up a link here to show you's what I'm talking about here. Very interesting. One could make a killing up here by bringing them up here and selling them, even when considering duty/freight!
Unfortunately the selection of fourth gens is a little more scarce right now, but you get the picture from what they're asking for a 1994 T/A, and they'll get what they're asking for it too likely.

**btw, just in case you're going to say our dollar isn't worth the same-our dollar has been pretty close with yours in recent times, and in fact has surpassed the U.S. dollar on a few recent occasions (although you wouldn't know it by the way we get screwed on electronics and autos _)

Oh...I assumed any sort of deal with a dealership was "trade in." I do know him personally so that may have increased the offer, but it's still from a dealership at the end of the day.
