Default radiator flush question?

I am getting my radiator/coolant system flushed today. I have a crusty like film in my reservoir. I am sure that it has never been changed/flushed. What coolant do you guys recommend?

Despite what a lot of guys on here say I have run Dex-Cool with great results and no problems. Been in my 99 Z-71 (200K+) since new and put it in the T/A when I bought it in early 07.

When I grabbed coolant the last time, the pre-mixed **** and the regular coolant were both the same price for the same amount, meaning you're paying 50% more for the coolant in the pre-mixed bottle.

Exactly.

Buy straight coolant and mix it yourself. I run the green stuff and flush it every other year.

I've stuck with dexcool in all my LS1s. Never had a problem, but I change it regularly (either do a drain & refill of the radiator every 1-2 years or a full system flush every 3-4 years).

I buy the premixed. Around here, it's about $9 for a gallon of premix and $12 for the straight coolant, so I'd rather not be bothered with mixing it myself. If you do mix your own, use distilled water for best results.

Got it done. Used straight coolant "green" and no issues or problems. And it was DIRTY! Glad that I got that done.

I talked with Prestone, I think they make the dexcool, they told me it was ok if the left over dex cool mixes with the new green stuff.

They did try to talk me into dex cool again, but I think the green was a fine choice. My car runs at 160 degrees and hasn't overheated, even in 120 degree vegas heat.
