Default Window motors?

Why do they fail so often in these cars? Yes I did a search first, and didn't find anything. Is it the window's design or what?

I would assume it is because it is such a long heavy window and the motor isn't quite big enough.

Also my personal opinion it is when it gets to the top and has to push into the weather stripping to create a water tight seal. I have owned multiple 93-02 f-bodies, when the motors are getting weak if you barely open the door so the window doesn't come in contact with weather stripping when u are rolling the window up it seems to help alot.

i've replaced one as soon as I got my Z. my mother has had hers replaced 4 times. she's only had her WS6 a bit longer than me too. she tends to slam her door pretty good though. I used fatmat in my doors and close them gently.

I wonder if anyone has tried to retrofit a heavy duty motor in there
I may have to try this since she isn't running at the moment.

Check the voltage at the window motors week volts to the motors will make them burn out faster

if someone made heavy duty motors and thicker door panels so they wouldnt spilt, the door issues on out cars would be knocked out.

They fail because neither window is receiving the proper power. The passenger side windows power actually come from the drivers side windows power. I've metered it out and the drivers side gets around 10.7V and the passenger only gets 7.8V. Since they're always under powered it puts added stress on the motor and they burn out. They're trying to pull 12V and it's just not there.

I did the equivalent of the Autotrix fix (just built it myself) with my own wiring and relays so now both motors get a full 12V directly from the battery instead of using the factory supplied power. Neither have slowed in the 2 years I've had them wired up this way.

I found info a while back that says the same thing....also said that putting them up or down one at a time helps with this situation.

Well the reason they don't get the proper voltage is because the stock wiring is too small to carry that much. When I redid mine I put 12AWG wiring in. Problem solved!
