Default Slp??

How come I never see anybody on here running slp headers or cams? This is something I've always wondered?

Theyre a good quality header, but pasesetters are freaking cheap, fit good, and durable.

Shitty clearance with their headers, much better choices for cam grinds/companies, and just about everything they make is way overpriced.

Most of their stuff IS overpriced for what you get compared with other vendors.

SLP had revised their headers from the original version which hung low causing damage to them plus they weren't even stainless. The new version headers are better designed but still mild steel. You can get other brands that are better constructed in stainless for about the same price or less.

In the late 80s and early 90s, SLP made a name for them self in the FI GM performance world as they were 1 of only 3 or so companies building performance parts for 3rd and 4th gens. That all changed when the LT1 blew up the scene in the mid 90s and then the LS1 following suit in the late 90s early 00s. SLP got into a pissing match with GM and GM shut them down on the SS/WS6 project. SLP never really recovered from that and coupled with the massive amounts of competition, this is why you dont see people running any SLP stuff beyong the basic basic bolt ons.

Another reason you dont see a whole lot of SLP stuff is not everyone is running 346ci bolt on cars.

400 series stainless is not as rust resistent as 300 series stainless, which other manufacturers use. I've seen SLP 400 series stainless headers get a corrosion coating in less than a year.

My lid has NEVER rubbed.

They redesigned their lids a few years ago (along with their headers) and the newer design was a bit more sleek and has ZERO rubbing issues......at least on a stock SS hood.

You've obviously never seen ARH headers There is not a nickels worth of difference in quality between the two. IMO the ARH Y tucks a tad better which is why I got them (lowered).

SLP LTs & LM1 here! .. Love them. But people are right. The clearance on the Tunned Length versions suck!! .. I heard that SLP sells a more clearance friendly version now.

Yeah all this lid rubbing and header clearance crap is old f'ing news now aint it? Get with it people, has this not all been rectified? Why is a sponsor being raked over the coals time and time again for OLD *** issues that have long since been resolved>? Just wondering. I think we need to put some myths to rest actually.

yeah wasnt slp one of the first to release a tuned LT...

with this new redesigned lid, being that it is slimmer, do you think it makes less power over the old lid? some mag tested all the lids and showed slp to be the best but i am thinking its the old lid.

i still have a stock lid but maybe ill buy the old one if its better for me as i dont have a SS hood which is usually the "rubber"
