Default 550hp with stock intake?

Got in a small squabble with a ford dealership with an auto 03' C5 vert, they claimed 550hp however it obviously has a stock intake. It does have patriot heads, CAI, LT's, under drives, etc. From what I know 550 isn't possible with any form of stock intake ( no N20 or FI obviously), would I be correct.

Edit: stock intake duct and stock TB.

Probably the same reason it's an auto and has a system in the trunk, guy had more dollars than sence.
I personally own a 2000 C5 w/418 stroker so I'm sorta familiar but I'm not a total gear head.

Are we talking about the intake manifold or CAI? Dont know much about the vette intakes from year to year and if any C5's came with LS6's (other than Z06's obviously), but it could be a ported LS6?

550rwhp on motor through a auto is a lot for stock cubes though and stock intake. I dont see a stock cubed/cam/heads/full bolt-on auto C5 making that for power. He could mean 550 at the crank, but def. not at the wheels.

If the motor was built and he had a nice head/cam set-up, no doubt, but it would be stuid to leave the intake stock and untouched after going through all that trouble.

Pretty sure that all 01+ LS1's had an LS6 intake on it, and are you sure it was a stock intake? Ive seen a few vettes that have some pretty nice aftermarket intakes that look to be stock. And theres a chance the TB could have been ported and you couldnt see it.

In the body of your post it says CAI, and its edited to say stock intake duck and stock TB? does that mean it has CAI? The TB on LS1's are pointless to replace unless your making at least 500 HP (give or take) the stock ones have no problem supporting that kind of power.

And odds are if its a dealership, and they dont have the dyno sheet they are taking the factory HP and doing HP adding. meaning if the car is rated at 350, the LT's add 30, CAI adds 20, etc... and before you know it your at "550 HP"

There's no way a dealer is quoting RWHP numbers to customers, they're obviously talking flywheel.

I'm 100% positive it had the stock intake, of course I can't tell if it and the TB were ported but even then I'd have a hard time believing it. It does have an SLP blackwing filter, but not the rest of the kit, I'm thinking about driving an actual 500hp car up there when I go pick up my company truck later today

Also, not stock intake or tb. Can I race you for money with my stock intake/tb car?

Kinda need to know what motor is in it too (if it's just a 346 N/A and auto I'm saying no way in hell it makes 550RWHP even with a FAST intake/TB). That pic you posted - is that the car you want to drive up to the dealership that has 500HP or is that the vette you're actually looking at. I can't imagine someone would say they're 100% sure its a stock intake when that pic is clearly a FAST intake.

My 6.0 made 504rwhp on a Mustang dyno with a stock intake and t-body through a T56 and a 9" in my 99 SS. It was 10.6:1 compression, ported 317s with big valves and a custom grind cam. It isn't impossible to make 550hp NA with an LS6. It is just difficult to do with 346ci.

Lol, right right...that picture is MY car. The post said "I'm thinking about driving an actual 500hp car up there when I go pick up my company truck later today". I'll snap some pics when I go get my truck today of the poser car complete with it's body kit. I'm about 95% sure the block in it is stock, mine has 6.2L clearly stamped in the block by the pass. head, the block in the dealership is bare just like my old 5.7 block sitting in the garage.

That's what I figured. I "might" buy 550 at the crank but no way it's putting that down at the tires. You should tell the dealer to line 'em up - if it really has 550 HP it shouldn't have any issues beating your car with 500! My guess is your car would dust this other C5 - why are you looking at buying it?

I wasn't looking at buying, I was stuck there for an hour while they diagnosed a stuck t-stat on my company truck
I started talking to one of the salesman trying to "get me in it" while I was there waiting, that's when he threw out all the numbers, along with the 30K price tag and I laughed in his face over the HP claim.

Here is car in question:

It's not a bad look, it actually makes me want that spoiler

Flame covers and stock intake manifold

No stamp on the block

Stock TB and intake w/blackwing filter

And every accessory from the corvette catalog.
