Even if there weren't a sale involved... if somebody is at a regular car gathering with a misbadged car that they're trying to pass off as the real thing, they are going to get made fun of. I've seen LT1 Corvettes with ZR1 badges, and regular '97 Civic hatchbacks with "Type R" badges... and I think the same thing about both.

If they feel they need to lie about it yea people will call them out, but not if it's done right unless they somehow checked the vin.

Your going to see these cars as they get older get restored into ws6s and ss's etc, and the only thing that won't be right is the vin

If they're being a jerk, (saying it's a WS6/SS every time they open their mouth, bragging, etc), then yes.

Some people will own up to it.

Otherwise it can be very fun to ask them about the car and basically make them feel like a fool, without being blunt.

I've never understood why people can't just own up to it.

People ask me if my 1971 olds 442 w-30 is real, im 22 years old and its in "new" condition.

I look at them, smirk and say no lol it's a clone. I couldn't afford a w-30 even if I wanted.

What I did was search and find a ton of nos w-30 parts and upgraded some parts better. Made it my own car.

I would have no problem saying I cloned my trans am into a ws6 using factory parts.

Sometimes they come back.

No reason to delete this thread, OP.
