I have to disagree with that. Even the '98s will reach the "210°" mark if left idling for long enough, with stock fan settings. Mine did. Then after altering the fan settings, it always stays around the "185°" mark (which is still not totally accurate, as the scanner shows this to be more like ~195-200°).

However, I do agree that '98s shouldn't reach that temp on the stock gage while cruising at speed (which would be normal for the '99+ cars). But idling is a different story (stock fans don't even cut on until actual temps in the 220s).

change your oil bro, you WILL have much better pressure. I promise. When I get around the 3000 mile mark or so, my pressure has dropped about 25% since the oil was new. it will drop even more if you use shitty oil and run it that long.

Avoid Fram oil filters if thats what youve been using. I saw a 5-10psi increase after changing to a delco filter....

Yes! I had a Fram too and switched to K&N and it went from 18-20 hot idle to 30-35.

My needle jumps around like a kid after a sugar binge, its twitchy as hell, sometimes low, sometimes normal, and sometimes just spazzing out, but its just the sending unit.

I seriously wouldnt worry unless its idling funny or you hear any kind of uncommon noises coming from under the hood.

Mine is a bit lower in my 98' at idle. Still runs just fine. . . . Differently worth the upgrade if you do have it torn apart though.

What shocks me is there is more talk of changing the oil pump than putting in fresh oil..

go with full synthetic, it doesnt break down as fast. German Castrol is one of the best, its some funky green ****. lol I didnt want to use it at first but now, i wouldnt put anything else in my motor... i have 152k on factory motor and still pull just under 65 psi WOT with about 2k miles on this change. idles hot at about 42-45psi. when it was new it was about 5-7psi higher on each side. Also drastically reduced my dreaded piston slap, even during cold starts. you can go with other brands, Mobil 1, and Castrol Syntec are awesome. Fram, Wix, and superflo filters are ****. stick with ACdelco or K&N. There are others but these offer the most protection and best flow. Im sure someone will come on here and give other suggestions but Im sure the consensus will be, STAY AWAY FROM THE CHEAP ****!!

x2 on German Castrol. I like it better than Mobil 1, lasts longer and gives me better oil pressure on cold starts and at hot idle. My first time I used the GC I pushed it to almost 7k miles and pretty sure it could have went more but was not gonna risk it.
As far as to where to find it you can go to Auto Zone or any other and look for 0w30 black containers, make sure it says made in Germany and not in US with foreign products. Try your luck asking the dummies at the parts store, most of them have never even heard of it.

What's wrong with Wix filters? That's all I have ever used and I haven't had any problems.
