Hold the keyless remote so that it touches underneath the bottom of your chin. I thought it sounded stupid also until a buddy of mine showed me. It seriously does increase the range a little. Try it normally and then do it under your chin to test it out for yourself.

Idk but my factory alarm has like twice the range of my remote. I can't lock or unlock from my bedroom but I sure can hit the alarm through the wall and everything and it still honks...

I've seen this disproven. The height it what changes it, the chin is merely coincidence.

When you hold a remote to your neck it uses your body as a antenna. Go to any valet service and watch how they can set off a car from double the distance when held to the neck.

if that doesnt work, your battery is low or the receiver antenna is not placed accordingly.

^If that were true, you simply holding it would work as an antenna as well...

Height has nothing to do with it.

Stand at just a distance to where it won't work. Hold it over your head as high as you can and it still won't work. Hold it to your chin at the same distance and it works.

Off topic a bit but what is the range of the factory transmitter? I've noticed mine doesn't unlock the doors until I'm about 5-10 yards away from the car.

There IS a way to do it. My friend did it to his '94 Firebird. It extended the range to a few hundred feet. We were about 6 houses down a standard neighborhood and it still worked. I'm looking for what it was he bought right now. I think it's made by Audiovox as part of their alarm systems. You solder an antenna extender on to two points on the BCM and you're done. I'll see what I can find; but it IS possible and I HAVE seen it done in person. Best part: the wire you use was only $20 or so.
