I hope you guys know I am talking about a c5 z06 and not a c6 z06. I think if it was fbody vs c6 z06 there would not even be need for the thread.
Thanks for the comments, I am still debating the car payment vs no payment. I almost got a '02 ws6 in 2003 and I regret not having that car. But I drove an '03 z06 last week and it was very fun

another option IMO would be a 03 cobra, better bang for the buck for straightline performance and have a much better interior than a fbody, and still cheaper than a vette. they can go faster for cheaper compared with either once the mods start.

I think they are pretty even in performance even when taking in the dollar ratio. Close enough it wouldn't sway me one way or the other towards either one.
The z being so much lighter/aerodynamic/better gearing would make me lean towards it.
The shifter and only going to 4th swayed me away from the cobra.
In my book, there Is an easier choice between the cobra and z than there is with the z and a Ws6. I would have a harder time buying a zo6 over a Ws6 than a cobra.
This is all preference and ones personal outlook on the pros and cons of it all.
BTW, ur **** will be showing up shortly bitch.. ur cam swap done??

Z06 all the way. There is no comparison. The z06 I have now I just bought from my dad; it was here and I was driving it when I still had my z28. Made me want a z06 in every way possible. It just is so much more fun to drive...especially if you throw some turns at it.

I was able to get an auto loan for an 02 ws6 this summer no problem (for 20k too, it was a low mileage SOM car... just a dream of mine). Car wasn't as described so the deal fell through and I didn't end up buying the car, but getting the loan approval wasn't a problem at all.

Dont know where this prognosis comes from. Are there older guys with vettes, yes but it doesnt mean its a "Mid life crisis" car. There are more and more younger guys getting a hold of vettes. BTW i bought my Z at 22 .(now 26)

As far as getting a loan, I had no problem getting a conventional loan for a few grand at only 6% for my current 99. And yes, they gave me the title. If you shop around and have good credit, it's not that hard to get a loan at a good rate, the key being GOOD credit.
As far as mid-life crisis, check out my sig, LOL. It was either a Camaro or a Harley - so I had no problem convincing my sig other as far as getting the Camaro. I still plan on getting a Corvette once I hit the half century mark, which is coming a helluva lot faster than I thought.
