Default Fbody or z06

I'm debating whether to get a ws6/ss (2000-2002) or a Corvette Z06 (2002-2004) and wanted yalls opinion.

I love drag racing, drag strips, etc. But I want something fun for the street as well. Because of the Corvettes suspension I figure a lot of people on here will tell me to get an Fbody, but at the same time I get comments about how the Corvette is just a lot better built car.

I'd love to get some feedback!

Thanks

My plan with either is 5xx-7xxrwhp, weekend toy. Maybe Turbo kit + forged shortblock

I would get the z06 if I were you, been looking at them and they are just amazing cars, you will spend a lot of money to get a ls1 up to par with a z06. But its really all in what your looking for. I have been looking for z06's but I am just going to wait till I finish school and get a c6 z06, good luck

Unless you have a big desire to own a Camaro/Firebird, the Vette will always win in a "which should I buy" showdown. I personally have loved Firebirds since I was 5 years old, and I have owned one since I was 18 years old. (33 years old now.) I wouldn't get rid of my current TA for a C5Z. I would own both if the chance presented itself. But if you don't feel a big "draw" or gut feeling to one specific car, SS vs WS6 vs Vette, then I would recommend just getting the Vette.

This seriously shouldn't even be asked. If you can afford the Z06 and don't need a backseat, you'd be a fool to chose the F-body over it.

You have to tell us more about what you plan to do with the car. What are your priorities? Will you daily drive it? If so, do you live in a place that gets winter weather? Will you ever need a back seat? How about cargo capacity?

Are you serious about taking it to the dragstrip? Then get an A4 f-body, stall it, shift kit, and go. Not so serious about the strip and want wicked handling? Vette all the way.

I'm not so sure that the Vette is a better built car, but it is a much more complicated car and DIY mods don't come as easy. My buddy took me on a tour of the factory service manuals for his 04 and I was amazed.

I was also amazed the first time I rode in the car. The balance, lightness, handling ... a whole world above f-bodies. Didn't think much of the interior, though. If anything the leather is worse than what's in Firebirds.

Better built car and better quality? Of course the vette is a higher quality since it costs just about double a F body. So with interior quality and overall quality the vette is going to be better. But the F body is going to give you the best bang for your buck. Thats not to say the F body is garbage either. Either car can make a good built just depends what you want out of the car and if you need a backseat. IDK what exactly your planning on changing but consider the vette tax when considering mods for a corvette.

I live in texas so the weather is always good

Another thing i failed to mention is with the z06 comes a car payment.

Im not a fan of 2 door car backseats. To me the backseat of any camaro/mustang may as well be like the vette. All very small and uncomfy.

Must be an m6, and i like the body lines of all 3. We dont have road courses here but we do have several drag strips.

Thanks for the comments

if you can afford one it seems a z06 will make you happy.

i had the same decision a year ago and chose to get an fbody

at the time i felt it would be better to have a cheaper car and have more money to mod. the price of the car also allowed me to purchase a separate daily driver which is a plus.

but looking back i would have really wished i got a z06. i thought i would use the backseat, but maybe got 2-3 uses out of it. now its removed for weight reduction anyway.

I was in the same boat as you a few months back.

First I wanted a WS6 or SS car with low miles.

Then, I decided I should get a C5 with reasonable mileage(less than 70K).

Now, I decided I'm going to quit smoking and buy myself a zo6 with low miles. They are just that much better and well worth the payment if you can afford it.

I would get the Z06 if you are looking for a fun DD. If you wanted to do a more drag oriented build, then I would get the f-body.

Vettes are too common around me, and I'd think just about anywhere? What are you using the car for again? I'd get a used pre-03 Viper GTS before I'd get a vette, but that's me. For all the money that's in my T/A, I could have gotten one too. I like the looks of the WS.6 and Firehawks a lot better than the vette.
