If your already concerned about a car payment with the z06 where do you plan to get the additional cash to mod the z06 up to 700plus hp? Seeing how cheap some F-bodys are right now, many with mods already performed to build off of, that would be the wiser route to go from a cost perspective.
The z06, its going to come at a premium because its a z06, you mod it and it drops in value. Not a problem if you plan to keep it a while but still when its all said and done that z06 is going to cost thousands upon thousands more to accomplish your goals. Personally, the c5 z06 does nothing for me since the c6 came out, but to each his own.

I think they are pretty even in performance even when taking in the dollar ratio. Close enough it wouldn't sway me one way or the other towards either one.
The z being so much lighter/aerodynamic/better gearing would make me lean towards it.
The shifter and only going to 4th swayed me away from the cobra.
In my book, there Is an easier choice between the cobra and z than there is with the z and a Ws6. I would have a harder time buying a zo6 over a Ws6 than a cobra.
This is all preference and ones personal outlook on the pros and cons of it all.
BTW, ur **** will be showing up shortly bitch.. ur cam swap done??

Alright cool, Ya the cam swap is done, the biotch doesnt want to run without a tune. The tuner thinks there may be another problem but ive got it idled up to 1200 and it will run there but below that it backfires and dies all at once. Im thinking the coolant temp sensor could be bad because its dumping a **** ton of fuel. but i think a tune is the main problem if not the only one.

From a practicality stand point, the fbodys would be a better buy, as it is cheaper & has 4 seats and adequate trunk space (eh when u fold the rear seats down hehe)... a firehawk would be NICE to own IMHO, a red w/ yellow decal is just DAYM SEXY
but since its a WEEKEND toy, the z06 wouldn't be a bad investment the build quality is excellent, and the mpg is great too from what i was reading in other threads
rolling up ina z06, everybody knows ur not messing around LOL

I have a real big problem in buying a car with only two seats lol. Even though I don't use my back seats, I just feel like I need the back seats just in case imo. Idk why, I'm just weird like that lol. So f-body all day for me.

i had the same decision a year ago and chose to get an fbody
at the time i felt it would be better to have a cheaper car and have more money to mod. the price of the car also allowed me to purchase a separate daily driver which is a plus.
but looking back i would have really wished i got a z06. i thought i would use the backseat, but maybe got 2-3 uses out of it. now its removed for weight reduction anyway.

MHP is the c5 z06 is probably the best all around platform and the styling
is timeless in the same way I feel the c3's styling is. It's close to a supercar
esp with mods. But since your interest lies in drag racing I'd opt for a ls1
camaro. It's rediculous how cheap you can buy one now. Or buy a modded
ls1 camaro and a regular c5 vette for the price you can find a good condition
c5 z06. Exhaust, cam and gears and your c5 will outrun most z06's and since
you don't plan to track it the suspension will be more than you'll be able to
use on the street esp with a z51 package. It's good to be faced with such
a decision!. Good luck in your search. Go over to corvetteforums and see
how many f-body to corvette owners made the switch and never regretted
it. I love my T/A but I would rather have a Z06 for a weekend car

Buy the z06, it feels like you're driving a crown victoria when you drive an fbody after you've driven a z06, I own a 00 z28 and a 02 z06, and love both but honestly go z06 all the way if you can afford it!! I guess a c6z06 should feel even better, looking forward to get one of those

I just bought an '03 Z06 a week and a half ago, and I have no desire to drive my trans am. The Z06 is so many levels above the TA that I should have done this a long time ago. the handling of this car has made me want to start road racing instead of drag racing now. I wasn't really all about the RR side, but after having driven the car through some mild curves, I am already hooked. I can't wait to take it up the mountain road I live at the end of, if it will ever stop raining .

Depends on the type of loan. To everyone outside of the hobby F bodies are old and worth zilch on paper; most credit unions have a limit on how old a car can be if it's to be financed. You can get a "personal" loan however, which is how I'm sure some people finance an older car...

+1 for WS6... If you're like alot of the guys on this forum, you are going to want to start modding sooner than later. Both cars are terrific, but the Z06 is going to be way more expensive in the long run. If you are not worried about the funds, then do what you want. I am partial towards the WS6 though. It is a bad *****, no matter how you cut it. Just my .02
