It's only been a few months from my LT1 to LS1 switch and but so far I couldn't be happier. Like mentioned above, so far this car is much more reliable and looks like it is going to be easier to work on. I even take my LS1 through automatic car washes, LOL.
As far as performance, stock for stock, the LS1 is MUCH faster than my LT1, although as others will mention, the LT1 has a little more torque starting off. I easily reel in many late model performance cars (Chargers, Mustangs, even new Camaros) at freeway speeds, much more so than my LT1.
I still miss the looks of the LT1 Camaro, but I consider it a reasonable trade off.
BTW, my LS1 had 101k miles and I paid $7400 for it, so it looks like you're getting a similar deal.

I owned a 'new' '96 Formula and loved it when I lived in FL. I only sold it because I wanted a convertible for cruising this part of the country. When I bought my 'new' '01 T/A vert I was stunned by the difference. I thought they would be close to identical with only a 25 HP difference (285-310). Quite wrong. The LS1 is incredible to me.
