No lie, I have the 4 speed automatic, and on a highway driving for 100 miles at the posted speed limit of 55MPH, ,had it on cruise control the whole way...I got 29MPG.
On highway driving, 70MPH on cruise control I get 26-27MPG
City driving, normall, I get 16-17MPG
Combined between highway and city I get 20-21.

My stock manual c5 gets average 25 and I've gotten as much as 30 On a road trip. I drive the car pretty hard most of the time, but on the highway I run 75 and 80 most of the time. It gets the best gas milage of all 5 cars the wife and I own.

Now has anyone found the limit of these things getting decent mileage? I know ultimately my right foot is in control of my fuel costs, but what is the limit as far as HP or mods before it really starts to tail off?
I know none of us get these cars because they are fuel efficient, but I think the fact that they are at least DECENT on fuel is a nice perk for us to own them. So I just want to push it as far as I can without going over the edge.

Once I took a 100 mile cruise, speed limit was 55MPH and cops were thick, so I didn't push it, stayed at 55 the whole time. Filled up once I hit a gas station, clocked it out to be 29MPG, no lie.
Highway cruising speeds, 70MPH I get about 27MPG with good Shell or Chevron gas. If I get a cheap Wal-Mart gas or something, I get 25 or 26MPG.
Around the city it's crappy, 16, maybe 17MPG?

130k miles 6 speed I get around 18.5 average, barely any (if any at all) highway. I just keep the revs to a minimum and go with the flow. Lotta stop lights but I usually don't idle too long.
Turbocharger - and if you want it really easy - STS turbocharger. No messing with the exhaust manifolds, hell, or even the cats.

My city mileage also sucks, it's about 15 or so. Highway is a different story, I went from Richmond to Myrtle Beach last summer and going 75 mph with a heavily loaded car (passenger, 2 extra wheels and tires, floor jack, spare supplies, overnight bags, sub box, amp) it got 25 mpg. I imagine if I slowed down a bit and didn't have as much weight it would do 26 or 27. Those 2.73 gears come in handy sometimes, although certainly not at the dragstrip.
I usually average 18-20 mpg depending on how much highway driving I do.

So, I just got 293 miles to the tank, the needle was pretty much flat out on E when I filled it up today. My commute to school M-F is about 40 miles round trip, so, a tank of gas lasts me about a week and two days or so until it's pretty much on E.
My commute is 90% highway staying at a constant speed of about 65-70 mph throughout unless I need to get into the throttle real good to pass someone up or merge over quickly, which doesn't happen that much, maybe twice at the most throughout the course of a week. I don't have a heavy foot either when I'm driving it around the normal college campus stop and go during the day.

Why don't you guys use the number of gallons you put in the car when filling up and divide the number of miles gone by the gallons you replaced in the tank... This way we get more comparable data. Per tank data is meh....
