Deer decided to give my ws6 a facelift
Cruising last night on a state route here in Ohio, I was heading back in to town with a friend and I came over the crest of a hill and saw some deer on the side of the road. I started slowing down but not slow enough when one ran in front of me. with the pavement being wet it was a little harder to stop thankfully, i hit it doing about 25 mph, although i wasn't paying attention to the speedo at that point. luckily air bags didn't go off and my passenger and I were fine. It just sucks to see the car like this being low mileage and most of all CLEAN. hopefully I don't get jacked with insurance.

That is a lot of damage, even at that speed. Hope all goes well with repairs.
We just came back from Cedar Point in OH last weekend and saw numerous deer killed along the way in both Ohio and Kentucky. You wonder that there are not more people killed with these beasts smashing through the windshields at higher speeds. I'm glad you were going relatively slow.

especially in that area, deer are everywhere so i'm always scanning the roadside, but the deer got the best of me and the car. poor thing was pregnant too very close to giving birth. but i am supposed to get a call from insurance tomorrow. from my (almost non-existent body repair knowledge) the actual metal looks straight. where the fender mounts has a slight bend, but the core support and major structural parts are straight and undamaged. i guess i'll know the true story when i get it in a shop. and of course all of this would happen when the weather just starts to get nice for a whole week.
i checked the value on it and it sits around 11k, so hopefully repairs are nowhere near that and it doesn't get scrapped.
the deer and it's fawn didn't make it, in fact there was another person going the other direction and after looking at the deer in the light I wouldn't be surprised if they hit it too. but they kept on driving so who knows. i didn't think i hit it hard enough to kill it, but who knows it was too dark to really tell.

I honestly expected the damage to be worse, it was a good sized doe. and i've seen what a jeep looks like after it hits a horse at 60 mph, talk about damage

honestly it doesnt look too bad. luckily the hood didnt get too damaged because if it was broke, that would have been over a grand if it was unfixable just because its near impossible to buy a brand new one for cheap. the headlight is a cheap easy one, new bumper and fender can come off a part out and just stripped of paint. my guess is a 2-3k fix at a shop. i got tboned on my drivers rear qp and had to get it fixed and paid 2200 for that to get fixed, some crappy previous body work redone on the other side and the whole car repainted

i think you will be fine. But honestly, I would just find a new fender and headlight cover off of a junker and have it painted since the damage is cosmetic.. The bumper cover looks fine aside from the scuffs.

Sorry about your wreck, but every time I see a deer-hit post I think of the Allstate commercial:

If/when you get it fixed, hopefully they'll find the same color even though they are still going to need to paint it. My previous car had repairs and even though it was a good paint job, little nicks showed the previous color.
