it took ford at least 15 years to even atempt to challenge the ls motor and we still laugh at them all the way PAST the gas station!!!! dual overhead? who needs all that extra chain? build 2 chevys for the price of 1 ford .

I know you mentioned your 17, but don't come on here asking a dumb question like that. You trade that guy and he's gonna drive your car away laughing his *** off knowing what a steal he just got. And second of all, don't EVER and I mean EVER do anything based on a ******* female. I've done it one too many times and you'll just regret it in the long run. And while on the female part, of course she likes Mustangs, Mustangs are for girls! Friendly jokes aside, don't make a stupid decision you'll regret.

If it was a 99-04 I would consider it. I had a full bolt on 2001 GT before I bought my current car and I loved it. It is much more fun on a back road than an LS car but they are slower in a straight line. Both have ups and downs. But If you were wanting to switch it up I would try a Mach 1 or a 99/01 Cobra.

The capabilities of Mustangs are just like any other. For example: I have a buddy in my town who has a non-stroked SC forged 4.6 2V Mustang GT with an approximately a measly 750whp. Just like any 400-500hp Fbody likes to beat on Mustangs, he likes to make most Fbodys look stupid slow. The capability of any car goes as deep as the pocket book.
If you go with forced induction, the stock shortblock can only reliabely handle about 400rwhp, if that. Plenty of guys on the mustang forums have blown their motors with less that that. Any which way you look at it, it is far more work to make less power. I had a 2000 Mustang GT and I liked it, but the potential and power are world's apart for the dollar.

Pre-05 Mustangs are not even competitive against 4th gen fbodies in the same class auto-x... Hell in a Ford magazine they pitted an 03 Cobra against an 02 SS Camaro on a road course and despite the hp advantage the Cobra had the Camaro still came out on top...

I came from having mustangs.. 99 GT, 00 GT, 95 Cobra, 99 Cobra, 03 Cobra and I traded my 03 pullied cobra for a stock 98 Z28 and I've never gone back. Altho my SS had been a nightmare, but I still like the car.

Good thinking staying with the LS1. Where the heck were you guys when I was going at it with a stable of stangs last week in the Texas forum?? Haha, those mustang lovers are too sensitive. All I said was that I wouldn't ever want a mod motor. Geez. opinion.
Anyway, as for the girl just explain to her in lamens terms without trying to sound like a know-it-all why the LS style engine is better. She may surprise you. If not, just let it go because mustangs are girl cars anyway. Lol

Well, the main difference in that case is that 2v 4.6 needed forged internals to make that kind of power. That's the problem with them. If you go NA, you have to every last bolt on and cams to even break stock LS1 power. They do respond well to gears, but part of that is because the low end torque is so much weaker to begin with.
