The Trans Am is one of a kind... not only the mods, but the car will not be made any more... it'll forever be dead... even if they woudl bring it back liek they did the camaro and GTO, the new TA won't be a f-body, and wont' resemble the orignal bloodline at all.....

in 10 or 15 years, it might just start to gain value... but as the GM flagship, Corvettes will always be made... i will alwasy be able to buy a new Corvette... there will always be one that's 5 or 6 years old for a great price... T/A's are only getting older, with no new ones to replenish the ranks...
TA is one of a kind, even if they do bring it back, inwhich they wont, it'll be a retro-revival like the challenger, mustang, and even camaro. So it won't be unique like the fbody TA was.. in my opinion atleast.

The ta might have a chance to gain some value, but in your case, since its not original (not that, that is a bad thing ) it will serve more as a sentimental trophy, rather than a true treasure piece to gain value. You put your hard earned money into it, as does everybody here at ls1tech, so it will always hold a place in your life.

Buy the bird back my dad kicks himself everyday for not buying his 69 Camaro back when he had the chance, now hes trying to convince the guy to sell it again. If you have the opportunity I would take it in a heart beat it sounds like you really want it back but your almost forcing yourself to keep the Vette

Absolute no brainer choice for me... go with the Trans Am 100%. I know I have a TA myself so I may be biased, but there will be plenty of time for your vette when you are 70 and still fit right in with most owners. You'd look a little silly in a TA at that age IMO.

As someone who has owned neither, given the choice, I'd rather have the Trans Am.

I have many problems, but I'm thankful this is not one of them.

T/A All day man. I mean I really want a vette but that's because I consider it an upgrade from the camaro. To me the camaro is a badass street car, and has lots of potential, but it doesn't have the character of a Trans Am. I really want a trans am but I couldn't trade off my great condition low mileage camaro for a beat up T/A...

O well I would go with the T/A, vette's are harder to mod(just mean harder to get to stuff)

I didn't notice the part about the Vette being an auto. My Formula is auto....borrrring!

Hmmm, that might sway me the other way now. And like someoen else said, there aren't any T/A's being made, but 5, 10 years from now you could easily get into a nice C6 (or C7?)

And I'd rather have a C6 than a C5 anyway.

well, the vette is for sale on Corvette Forum..... Only way i sell it is if i get a fair amoutn for it... i think my starting price is more than fair, so i won't take any lowball offers... so its now up to the "buying public"... if they want it, then i'll buy the TA...

I've heard several people do this over the years (F-body to C5 back to F-body).

I'm one of them. The Vette is nice for sure and I wouldn't mind owning another one someday. Do I miss it? Yes? Did I miss having an F body? Yes, that's why I have another one now.

The f body is raw and unrefined, unforgiving and relentless. The Vette is much more civil, better mannered and has a precise feeling about it. You really can't go wrong either way.

same situation. My Trans Am is for sale in the classifieds here. I sold my C5 3 months ago and miss it to death. I need to get back into one. I will still keep my Z28 when I get my Vette

I don't have the most experience with the vette...I have driven a couple but very very short distances at dealerships, and a new LS3 Corvette Grand Sport. but I think it felt more solid and planted but less savage(haven't driven a z06). Honestly I think an f-body is just a little more fun in an immature kinda way. They aren't as fast, and don't corner as well, but they are still meaner than ****.

I can believe that if we're talking about a stock C5. Having gone from 3 f-bodies to my Z06 about 3 1/2 years ago I definitely don't miss my T/A. To the OP - I missed the part about the C5 being an auto. That would definitely make it a harder decision for me.

I'd rather a M6 C5, so would also vote for the T/A.

Based on trans type, I'd have to pick the C5 in this case.
