Default Trans am savon?

I'm getting a 2000 trans am ws6 savon edition. The guy says it's a 1 of 56? What does the savon edition mean? Google didn't bring it up

Might be some sort of local dealer add-on package, or maybe the guy is just making it up to charge a higher price.

He says the savon package is strictly performance no visuals and it includes a color matched intake a custom anniversary lid and high performance heads. I'm just checking to see if anyone has heard of this or if it's just BS. He is not charging a very high price for the car it's just a straight swap.

Well it does have a different lid and painted intake... He seems to know that there are only 56 so he should be able to provide some insight as to what it is exactly.
I'd ask for some kind of proof. Or take a look at the car and check the heads and such for casting numbers perhaps?

Willing to bet it was modified by a previous owner named "Savon" and the 1/56 is what he pulled up by running the vin and saw that there were 56 Pewter WS6's with those specific options in 2000.

EDIT: Disregard the above...

Turns out the seller is an idiot who can't spell... it is SEVAN not sevon.

What is "SevanSeries"?

The SevanSeries Trans Ams are dealer customs assembled by Evans Pontiac. At their inception, they were stock, fully-loaded Trans Ams customized by LG Motorsports and Evans' own body shop for the hood and badging. Evans stopped using LG Motorsports during the 2000 model year, though. "SevanSeries" is a tribute to "Steve Evans", the owner of Evans Pontiac in Dallas, TX. "S-Evans" is the derivitive of the "Sevans" in the "SevanSeries" name. Other than the Mecham TA, this was, at the time, one of the most powerful Trans Ams available from a dealer lot that wasn't a trade. Sevans cars dyno at approximately 360 Horses at the flywheel, which is 15 more than a stock Corvette C5. The gain in HP and TQ was directly attributed to the Raptor Hoods and the Borla exhaust running wide open

Found within the list of all firebird models:

So much for "strictly performance and no visuals" eh? Pretty sure the raptor hood and badges apply to that... no?

Interesting info and sounds like a decent package put together. Thanks for doing the research. You learn something new every day.

But the Craigslist car doesn't show the Raptor style hood as noted in the SevanSeries info.
Need more documentation in hand with proof of VIN/etc if ya do.

Had my doubts at first but I suppose it's the real deal, never heard of it before. But, I agree with the above, before you buy it I would make an effort to get all the documentation available on the car to make sure it's the real deal. I wouldn't buy it if the owner couldn't get at least some sort of legit proof that it's a "Sevan" for you.

He said run the VIN and it shows it as a legit Sevan production. Im getting him to send it to me so I can run it. Even if it was just a regular T/a I'd still be getting it. The price is low (im trading him my Lowered Colorado for it) so either way Ill take the car. Being a S.E. Sevan is just a bonus

Run it where?

GM VIS isn't going to reflect this package, because it wasn't a factory nor post-assembly factory authorized option (such as SLP). I guess you'd have to contact the specific dealer that did these conversions and see if the VIN matches their records. That's the only place that would have a record of this.

is it possible to call the dealership where it was built to see if they can verify the vin?

i dont see the factory vin showing that package, unless they swapped vins or something...

I know I've seen one before, in Oak Cliff to be exact. It's been a few years, it was silver and reminded me of my 97. It had the Enkie Win wheels like mine and the badging which normally says trans am on the door said sevan series, same font and all, very subtle.

Ok one more rare/different T/A question. My friend swears up and down that his friends dad had a V10 Trans am built in 1999. The above article mentions the Mecham Trans am. Is this the V10 edition or were there any made?

Thanks for the good luck. I have high hopes for this car. Decent condition Trans ams in my price range are few and far between. I think this one will be a great DD and Im planning on picking up a low mileage engine and trans combo for the future. I have found some for $700-1200
