I have a spare, but no scissor jack, so there isnt much point to carrying it around, so I dont. I have other tools in that wheel well anyway

I am a happy medium for these reasons exactly

I dont have to worry about anyone messing up my car, plus I don't have the extra weight. When I'm around town/nearby-Friends/family FTW lol

i recently used my spare for about 10 miles. i was a good looking spare that had been in the trunk of a 96 for who knows how long, at a pick and pull.

at the end of the ten miles the tire was splitting and going flat at the tire and rim shop.

eh, might as well throw it away now but maybe i should keep the rim around my house so maybe i just have to get a new spare from a dealer?

I have enough thirdgen/fourth gen wheels/tires around my house I can have a buddy or family member run one out with a jack.

If I ever went on a long trip Id bring a wheel/tire/jack with me just in case.
sounds like i need to visit relatives in PA

My Z28 is my "toy" and I daily drive a truck, so no. If it gets a flat I'll call a friend or just walk home and get the full size spare, throw it in the bed of the truck and go put it on. I've only had one blow out in my twelve years of driving (knock on wood), the others could be filled up with air at a gas station and limped home. Now on my truck I keep a full size spare since it's a DD.

I took mine out because I never really drive a long ways away and I have plenty of people I can call if I do have some kinda tire failure. If I was gonna drive out of state or something I would take a spare.

Funny, I have never thought about it but just recently I took it and the jack out, now every time I go to take a 100 mile run I think about throwing it back in, but my car is a garage queen and only gets driven about a dozen times a year.

Yupp. Can't imagine running without a spare on my DD. Funny story though- for about the first 3k I put on the car I didn't know that it had one locking lug on each rim and I didn't have the key. Lol, so I'm glad I didn't have a flat before I noticed that.

Big brake kit up front means a spare wouldn't clear the caliper. So I don't bother. I have a original 17" in my garage with a tire still on it.

I immediately removed my spare upon purchasing my car...can't use it anyhow with my Z being lowered...not gonna ride with a full size spare...so no spare not ever. Just an easy weight reduction to me. I'll do a AAA call if it comes to it. Or a call home for a replacement.

There had to be something wrong with that tire. Those tires are a lot sturdier than some might think...here's my buddy in the burnout contest at CFR with 2 spare tires (one out of a '94 and one out of my '95) on the rear of his TA, speedo over 140mph:

it never made any sense to me to ride around without a spare. Ya, you can get your little air pump and hope that saves you, but it doesnt do much good in a blow out situation

^This. On road trips I throw it in with a small delco floor jack. No way I'd fool with that factory jack by the side of the road.

I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Besides iv heard some horror towing story's.
