Default Do you ride with your Spare?

My spare tire has the tread coming off and I broke my jack so I was thinking of just taking it out to save weight and just riding with a little 12V Air pump. How many people carry around their spare tire? This is my DD car.

If I am around town/within an hour or so of home I don't. I have plenty of friends that can run to my place and grab another rim/tire and a floor jack. If I go on a road trip or something, then I will take it along. 99.99% of the time it's just dead weight.

My car is my DD so yeah, although I have plans of removing it later on. Think I've might of used it 1 time the whole time I've had my car.

I have it out most of the time for the weight savings, but during the winter when there's no drag racing, or when going on a long trip, I'll throw it back in.

Of course not; I carefully plan out each flat I get.

I dont drive in winter and id really rather not ever have my car towed for any reason. With as low of clearance as these cars have id rather not have some tow truck driver mess up/scratch my car.

A couple of mine have the spares still - I try to remember to air them up once/year. The others have a can of fix a flat in the trunk well.

I do. several years ago right after i bought the car, i had a blowout just outside of alligator alley on I75 over by naples and had no jack. the spare was there but that didn't do much good, lol. i had to wait 2 hrs for FL helpers to help me change the tire. after that i went and bought a jack at a junkyard.

as for fix a flat, i don't know how that would have worked with a 2 inch gash in the tire from a piece of metal.

truthfully, after the kind of scraping i saw on the front bumper after driving it for ~ 50-100 mi that day on the donut, i would probably just have it towed somewhere. i think my collector's insurance has roadside assitance/towing.
