Default Best way to store trans am outside?

I need to store my trans am outside for the winter (new York). I have a car cover and tarp but I have seen on tv a special cover you can drive on to and zipper the top so your car is in a buble.
Any one know what this is and where I can get one
Thanks
Roman

The only thing I've seen similar to what you mentioned is this:

http://www.jegs.com/i/Astra-Hammond/...ductId=1641608

I considered it for my car, but strictly to keep dust off in the garage. That would collapse if it got snowed on and it would probably rip if it was exposed repeatedly to sustained winds.

Think your best bet is to use a form fitting car cover with a tarp over it, as you mention, and park it somewhere that it's shielded from the prevailing wind direction.

I recommend NOT to rig anything that is close to being airtight. Not sure where you are in NY, but if you're in Western NY, you'll get a lot of snow. Some moisture is bound to get in there, but as long as it can drip out and evaporate it shouldn't hurt anything. It's taking it out on the roads and exposing it to the crap they put on them that will kill your underbody and paint.

I just let mine sit outside covered in snow last year. Threw the battery in it and gave it a nice wash/wax and you couldnt even tell it was outside.

That's the best advice but if not a choice then get a quality cover (if yours is not quality already) from Griot's Garage (not cheap) and keep your fingers crossed with the elements and critters that love cars stored outside. My understanding of the 'zippered' storage bags is for INSIDE use only, not outdoors. Also don't forget the STA-BIL for your gasoline. The ethanol crap will attract moisture as well after the long storage so you will need to add HEET or a similar product to dry out the water when you crank it up again. Good luck!

Stabil will take care of this concern, no need for HEET really.

I've stored my car outside in the Indiana winters before. I just went with a single car cover and Stabil in the tank and left it at that. The car had no issues. I'd brush excessive snow off of it when I had a chance, but no extra attention beyond that.

OP, I think you're referring to a CarCapsue:

I never take cars I care about into the city anymore, yet alone let them sit on NYC streets in the winter--Saw a video of a plow wreck a few parked cars in the snow last year. Scary stuff.

has any one tried the outdoor car capsule. Its expensive but seems to protect the car. Last year we got alot of snow and my poor car was under snow most of winter (under car cover).

Autobody Armor by Coverking. It's about $300 but it's a pretty sweet car cover if you have to use one.

I'm not really sure why people think they need a cover for outdoor storage in the winter, when they don't use a cover for outdoor storage in the summer. Rain and UV exposure will do as much or more damage than just having snow sit on it during the winter.

Exactly. UV exposure is probably the worst.

Best to keep it covered all year round, but most people airnt going to use their car cover at work and what not.

I never put a cover on mine until last year when I got a custom cut one that doesn't move around too much on the car.
