Default About to buy a cam an need some help???

I'm about to buy a cam and need some input. What cam would be better for my setup the Raptor cam or the MS3? I have a 99 T/A A4 with mid-length headers, off road y-pipe, VIG 3500 stall, stock ls6 heads, ls6 intake, 3.42 gears magnaflow cat-back and a 150 shot wet kit. I'm try to make around 420 to 430 rwhp on motor.

I ran a MS3 cam in a 383 with an auto ,LS6 heads and 3.42's. It will be lazy down low but pull hard from 4500-6500. You really need gears and more convertor to run it. I wouldn't recommend it esp. if running stock cubes and plan on daily driving the car. We made 450's with it , added a Fast 92, and long tubes and made 470's. It was all on the top end. I don't know about the Raptor.

Not too many people remember cam specs by their shelf name(ms3, polluter, torquer, etc). Consider listing the full specifications of the cams you are considering. Also, have you contacted the people who designed these cams to see what they have to say?

Streetable is a hard term to define on this board. It depends on your own tolerance of pain.

Kirkey seats , drag shocks and a 240-250's @ 620's and true duals is streetable to me.

There are better grinds then the old MS3. IMOP. Esp. for a stock cube combo.

The Magic Stick line of camshafts is the most popular line of camshafts Texas Speed offers. The Magic Stick camshafts are designed to be a all out max effort camshaft for people looking to get maximum power from stock displacement engines. The Magic Stick camshafts require a high quality double spring kit such as the PRC .650" & .675" double spring kits. Both spring packages will easily handle this camshaft lift & lobe designs. With the MS3 camshaft the customer must have atleast a 3500 rpm stall converter & 3800+ is recommended for automatic cars. Tuning will also be required in both automatic & manual applications. Texas Speed offers complete mail order tuning services to get your vehicles pcm custom tuned for your modifications

I am running an MS4 cam in my 2001 camaro M6. I see all these posts about the MS3 and MS4 cams not being streetable. My cars runs just fine on the street with the MS4 not to mention the sound and power. My car put down 390 rwhp and 365 rwtq with the cam, bbk intake, slp lid, lt headers, and magnaflow exhaust with 3.90 rears. The magic sticks, IMO, are very good cams. The car does buck a little off idle when driving easy but nothing that bothers me.

Keep in mind you have a 6 speed and he is an auto. You can run nearly any cam with a manual trans.

To have a MS4 with boltons and not break the 400rwhp you had to be on a stingy dyno. OP I would call sponsors tell them what your HONEST goals are and they can point you in the right direction. IMO the MS3/4 and those larger cams aren't very street friendly without alot of converter and/or gear.

why not get a more midrange cam that pulls hard low and top. id say a 228r or a blower cam from brutespeed. dont underrate the 114-115 lsa cams. they also allow you room to grow on down the road.
