should I get chrome wheels for a daily?
wanting to get some new wheels for my gto..my GTO is a dark blue and looks amazing with some chrome rims.
for example:
I'm not sure tho for a daily driver..I mean I don't mind cleaning them (I already clean the car every weekend) but I just don't want them to get shitty. I live in Northern Indiana but I won't drive the goat in the winter, but will be going through rain.
so is it worth it to get chrome rims? or should I just go for some regular finish ones like these:
thanks

The wheels in that first picture don't look like chrome to me. They look like a high quality polishing job.
The only way I'd ever recommend polished wheels for a car that sees any sort of weather would be if they were clear coated (like stock WS6 wheels). Non-clear coated polished wheels are too much hassle for a daily driver (even if you avoid winter) if you really want them to stay looking nice.
Chrome is fine, so long as it does't see a lot of road salt. Winter/salt will cause them to pit and peel over time. Rain shouldn't hurt them, but if you let brake dust build up and stay on them over time it will deteriorate the finish. Keep them waxed to make the finish last even longer.
Painted/powder coated are by far the easist to deal with for a daily driver. They even hold up pretty well to road salt if you keep them cleaned every so often in the winter.

I daily drive my car with the original chrome ZR1's. You just have to take the extra time to keep them polished up and don't let brake dust sit all over them, if you do that, they will definitely hold up. After 12 years, mines still have a very deep and reflective shine.

Like RPM WS6 said, waxing is key. Mine are perfect still after 11 years and 30,000 miles. I know that isn't much driving but the age is still a factor. Once a month I use a quality spray wax (I personally like the EagleOne Nano spray for the wheels) after thoroughly cleaning. So easy to apply and wipe off. About 3-4 minutes per wheel and you are set to go in any conditions. If my car was a DD I would probably do it twice a month. Enjoy the chrome!!
