Default Air lid fitment problem?

Hey guys, I know this sounds stupid! This is my third WS6 and I cannot remember how the setup was back in the day lol. The other cars I had were stock and I changed out the lid from stock. Well I got another WS6 and it came with the KN FIPK mod. I bought the lower WS6 air box and slp lid. The car came with the SLP smooth bellows and KN FIPK.
Today when I removed the KN fipk and replaced it with the lower ram air box and lid, I noticed that the lid wasn't able to connect to the MAF housing. They seem to be the same diameter.
I'm just wondering if I am missing a piece between the MAF and the lid? Forgive my ignorance, but I cannot remember how the stock setup was. Is there a piece I need to connect the MAF and air lid? Thanks for any help!

No there is no other part, but the SLP lid is a super tight fit to the MAF. I used a little spray lube (applied by my finger, not by spraying) to force the lid on to the MAF housing.

If this don't work, you can use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat it up and slip it on.

Exactly, this is what the instructions recommend. However, even with a hair dryer, I still had tough of a time getting it to fit, you just have to be patient and work with it.

Thanks for all the replies! Well I think I just realized I have a Delphi 85 mm MAF. No wonder it was a tight fit lol. Anyways, like I said I bought it used and I never would have thought that the guy before would have done the MAF without some major mods? So what are my options to fit the slp lid? Some kind of connector or something? Would it be better to go back to a stock MAF? Thanks guy!

Go back to the stock MAF.

The cars tune could be altered for the 85mm maf, so going back to the stock maf may effect how the car runs.
