Default 6.0L LQ4 ARP Rod Bolt Swap

I have a 2001 6.0L LQ4 that I've put in a 1952 Chevrolet Pickup, with a 4L80 trans behind it. Engine and Trans modifications so far:

-Custom grind Comp Cam
-.700 lift valve springs
-Hardened Pushrods
-High volume oil pump
-LS1 intake w/ stock TB
-Holley EFI Fuel Rails
-FAST 38# fuel injectors
-2010 Camaro Water Pump
-Custom accessory brackets from LSbrackets.com
-Hummer H3 Alpha Oil pan, Pickup Tube and Windage Tray for frame clearance
-ARP Rod Bolts
-3200-3400 Stall Torque Converter
-LS2 Timing Set

So, here's my question. I've heard the rumors about the ARP Rod Bolt install. Some say you're supposed to re-size your rods and main caps... Others I've talked to say that I should be ok, and shouldn't have to do any further mods. Just looking for some feed back guys... Thanks!

It's a crap shoot. Some are lucky, others not so much. I've done and measured a few sets. The ones I replaced in my car without resizing went .003 out of round. I did a few other sets I had laying around just to see what would happen and they all went out of round between .002 and .004.

These were all with arp bolts.

I did 1 set with the katech bolts recently and they went out as well. Only by .0015 but they were still out.

I would re size them if you plan to go that way.

Also, your mains will not need touched unless you replace them with studs. You can just remove the rods, re size them and re install them with new bearings.

Ive had mine apart (5.3) and back together with no issues. (on 2 different cars) I wonder how the engine factory put them together without resizing?

The other statement makes no sense, so no need for another thread...

So why does a stock bolt not put the cap end out of round?

Why does the arp bolt warp the same end until its out of spec-junk?

Does the engine factory have a special rod cap installation tool designed to keep the big end round?

Didn't mean to start an argument fellas. I appreciate the info though. I guess we're gonna run with the ARP's without re-sizing for now. The second I feel a vibration, I'll be re-sizing and replacing some bearings as well. Just want to get the truck rolling and get the bugs worked out first. Thanks!

ARP rod bolts provide a different clamping force.....you are talking out of your *** it seems, take a break.

Agreed...

You obviously know nothing about machining.
