Why do some 4th gen sellers think they're sitting on a goldmine?

you get what you pay for. I have seen all the sub 14k$ cars and most times they are pieces of **** or a complete roach! if you want nice you gotta spend the coin. same goes for any car. get sick of everyone who says I can get this oh so clean lsx car for 4k$ why do you want so much for yours. hate to say it but that cars 4$k for good reason.

After reading what a few of y'all have said i can see both sides to it me personally i was selling my car a few months ago for 7k truthfully what needed and still needs to be done is a touche up paint job sisde skirt and maybe the lifters now (idk haven't gotten it check yet) with out the lifter problem you can have a very nice 400rwhp car for under 10k hell ill bet with fixing the lifter problem it will be under 10k still. Me personally ill still never pay over 10k for one just because my dad can look up on the several different sites like black book kbb etc to see what they bring. Everyone always puts personal value into their cars as well so just keep looking and eventually you'll find a good deal.

I also see people talk about "mint" LSx cars for $5-6k, but I don't think these people understand what "mint" actually means. Mint refers to a perfect show car, 100 point stuff. I'll be listing my '02 car for a figure near the $5k range, and it's certainly not mint, just nice. A truly mint LS1 4th gen isn't going to be had for anything in the 4-figure range.

You are exactly right. I unfortunately know a few sellers that like to throw their cars out there and see if they can hook any suckers. No intention of selling but will sell if they get lucky. Just fishing.

Selling
I would like to sell my 2002 Camaro Z28 for a fair price. I do not need to kill any buyer and at the same time I do not want to give my car away. The reasons are that I very seldom drive my Camaro and need a down payment to purchase a C7. I live out East and would like to find someone interested in power, stereo, and a sports car. The Camaros in their selves have proven very reliable.

It's really worth what's someone is willing to pay.
I've personally owned some nice F-Bodies IMO but I would never pay 20k for one like I've seen some people ask. I've driven them every which way and know what they are really worth. I guess some people either get sentimental or are just

Well, they will continue to become more and more rare as time passes, which will drive up the value, not to mention that 90% of them are modded in some way, so if you have a bone stock 98-02 Camaro or Trans Am, then I'd say the longer you sit on it, the more you're going to get for it.
Also, most people don't take good care of their ****, so if you have an extremely clean inside and out one, that can only help when it comes to getting top dollar.

I am trying to sell my 99 Hugger for $18,000 with 4,700 miles and it has been difficult but I am going to wait until one sells on Barrett Jackson for an out of your mind price and will be able to sell it. Just remember when a 23 window VW bus sold for almost $200,000 and after that everybody wants ransom money for buses that are just a pile of junk, I think my car is still worth what I want, also look at what people like Rick Hendricks paid for some cars on the auctions, a million dollars or more for new cars like the first convertible C-7 and those cars are worth the same as the other ones, so for right now these cars are worth what somebody wants to pay but it will change and I am waiting

Was driving down the road a few months ago going past a used car dealership and I spotted a red Trans Am. So I swing in and check it out. Its a 1998 Trans Am, A4, red, 120K, was clean and bone stock.
After a few mins a sales guy comes out, and after talking to him briefly I come to find out that they want $18K for it. And would not even entertain letting me take it for a spin unless I started the paperwork.
Told the guy good luck with that and left. It's still siting there 4 months later...

this is a great ?, lots of factors to consider. supply vs demand. one mans junk is another mans treasure! consider this a new camaro cost 35 / 40k. if you can find a clean, just as fast 4th gen for 10k why not consider it?
