LS-6 Intake ports

LS-6 Intake ports
Have a question about a LS-6 intake, I purchased a LS-6 intake from a member here and he stated it was a cathedral port, when I received it it looks like it has rectangle ports, the port openings are about 1" wide X 3-1/4" long and the top of the port is square as is the bottom, my heads are cathedral port, is this intake still considered a cathedral port? At this point don't know if I was taken or I'm confused, seller stated he took it off a cathedral port engine, any help would be appreciated as if he sold me the wrong intake $450 is a lot of change to loose.
Thanks

That is the hard part of this, the person that had the intake prior to me did a modification to the intake, where the part number was is cut out to allow something to pass under the intake. Trying to do photo bucket but having a hard time, not a big computer person.

ROCNDAV, thank you for the links, I do have a LS-6 intake by the pictures, the ports look the same as what I have, the question is will the intake fit on my 5.3? the heads on the motor are cathedral ports, can I use this intake on this motor? The reason I have questions is that the ports on the intake are different than what is on the heads or at least they look different.

I'm the guy he bought it from. He says that it is a rectangle port intake and not a cathedral port LS6. He says this will not work on his cathedral port 5.3 and wants his money back and to send the intake back. I keep trying to explain it to him that this will work on his 5.3 with no issues but he won't listen.

Its a ls6 intake will work100 percent.............. The senior tech you spoke to dont know jack **** obvisouly. There is no rectangle port ls6 intake. The intake was made from 2001 to 2004 for ls1-ls6 cathederal port engines.

OP, if what 01SOMZ28 is saying is the truth then it looks like the problem is that you don't know what an LS6 intake is and neither does that senior tech at the dealership. An earlier LS6 intake and not for a cathedral port??? WTF... We're not talking about a 1970 carbureted big block LS-6 here. All genIII LS6 intakes are cathedral port intakes. The picture you posted is indeed a LS6 intake for cathedral port heads. The intake manifold ports themselves do not have cathedral shaped gaskets, but are for cathedral shaped heads. Don't worry dude, its a learning curve.
On a side note, I say that senior tech's advise on genIII/IV LS motors is very questionable.

I know he doesn't know what an LS6 intake is. He told me he's a diesel guy and this is his first experience with these engines. He specifically asked me if it was cathedral port and I said yes. The same day upon receiving the intake he messages me saying "You told me it was cathedral port, this is rectangle port, this is useless to me and I will open a dispute if it's not taken care of." I talk to him on the phone the next day and explain everything to him that's being posted in this thread. He said he understood and to disregard his message that stated it was wrong. He's under the impression that the intake ports/gaskets are supposed to look the same as his truck intake which have cathedral shaped gaskets.
