IMO, if your 1st priority is the lowest possible 1/4 mile time then you're totally looking at the wrong car, the 2014 Z28 was designed to get around a track as fast as possible as it's 1st priority. You'll be a lot better off starting with a 1SS and modifying it to meet you 1/4 mile goals for a lot less!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd really like to hear what Sam Strano thinks of the 2014 Z28!

That's right. I'd rather spend less on a lightly used, low mileage C6Z and be faster at the track as well as having a better looking car IMO. If I wanted to compete at this level with a stock, new car, and needed a back seat, then perhaps the Z28 would be a good choice.

Good news is that there is a camaro for "everyone" lol
v6 - 1LS Trim $24k
v8 - 1SS Trim $34k
v8 - ZL1 Trim $55k
v8 - Z28 Trim $75k
Got a family and no room for a toy?
SS - $44k.
Got no need for back seat?
Vette starts at $51k

Wow. A lot more than I was expecting.
I have a very difficult time understanding how this will be an "investment". There are very few cars that do not depreciate -- even fewer that GM makes. I see it all the time justified as an investment owning a (insert special edition late model GM car here - '99 30th TA, '02 LE SS, '04 Z16 Z06, Intimidator SS, Tom Henry SS etc).
A "investment" 30th TA with almost no miles will go for the price it sold for in 1999 (not counting inflation). $33,000 invested at 4% will yield $107,000 in 30 years. I don't see the investment car doing the same.
$75,000 invested at an even more convective 3% for 30 years is $182,000. A Z/28 as an "investment" is a moot point.

yes, to each his own. that's why when I mashed I mean MASHED!! my 02 I took it to my buddies body shop and worked on it a solid 3 months to put it back together only because it's a 1SC. I see your point as being a track car. I like going out to the garage, hit the key and vrroomm hit the super slab and I'm gone!

The new CAMARO is a "PIG" . . . The V-8 models weigh almost 4000 lb, without driver.
A nicely-modded 4th Gen will "wax their tail", for a lot less money !
See the attached pic . . .

The great thing about it is there is nothing wrong with that. Ill be honest I wouldn't even buy a C6z if I could afford It. Simply put I am not going to take the car to any type of track so whats the point? I would buy a base vette or ss. Then tinker with it because that's what fun to me. To each their own that's why they make all these different cars.

In reality I would rather buy a C6Z or do what I am doing.
Build a C4 (gasp).
Bottom line I will not buy a new Camaro Z/28 (unless gm decides to pay me 75k for it)
What people seem to be forgetting is that the C6 Z06 is no longer in production, and this car is going to be just as fast or faster around the curves than that car was and for about the same price that the C6Z06 was when it first came out. The C7Z06 will likely be $85k+ base, so this car makes sense in the progression of GM's lineup IMO. Hell, with the carbon package, brake upgrade, and everything else you could get C6 Z06's well over $90k msrp and it still had an LS7-but with suspension that isn't as good as the new Z/28 will be...
It's a racecar they will only build for 2 years, kind of along the same line as Ford's Cobra R mustangs back in the day...

What is this "Drag Racing" you speak of??? I only know of racing with corners is it....
