Wish they would have kept the LS7 , should have given it the direct injection treatment and make it a rev monster , putting out about 590-600hp and 560-570 ft-lb , that would have been sweet

The LSx is a thing of the past now. New car's will get new treatment. And I find no surprise that the new Z06 will out perform the C6 ZR1. Take the C4 ZR1 and C5 Z06 for comparison.

I agree with you on that, just saying should have used a big displacement, high revving , NA engine instead of supercharging

As for the Z06 and the Z/28 (damn I'm glad the "/" is back! lol), they represent the soul of each platform, the Z/28 being a high-strung small block that has it's roots cleaning house in SCCA showroom stock racing. The Z06 is still true to it's roots from 1963 as a car that could take on Sebring (as a 327) and Daytona (as a 427 race car) with the best of them as a flagship road car.

As for the insane power levels, I'm just fine with it. Just think, one day we may have the entry level Malibu as a 400hp V6 with 35/50mpg and a ZR1 with 1000hp available sitting at the dealership, lol. I don't think any of the manufacturers will be happy unless they have the car with the most HP sitting on the lot, so it's going to be a HP war for a long time to come.
To bad this isn't true anymore.

Why do you say that?

ZL1 - $60k, ZR1 - $113.

I think the implication is that the new top dog corvette will crush the new top dog camaro so its more like 75 % of what the corvette can do. Not saying thats true or not as I have never driven either car but that what he is trying to imply.

Personally I dont think it matters its more about bragging rights. Most people will never take them to the track and if they do they are not capable of pushing the cars to their limits.
