Default Corvette Z06 will have 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of Torque

620 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. And it'll be supercharged.

That puts it just below the outgoing ZR1 in terms of maximum horsepower, but bests it by 50 lb-ft of torque. Mind you, that also puts it within striking distance of the Viper when it comes to outright horsepower, and ahead of the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Porsche 911 Turbo S. So yeah. It's going to be stupid quick.

It'll also be supercharged, but we already knew that. That fact alone is interesting considering the Z06 was has always been the fastest of the naturally aspirated Corvettes. It makes me wonder what they're going to do with the ZR1. Will there be a ZR1? If there is, what kind of power is that car going to make!

That may just be the plan for the ZR1 (GM already confirmed a 4.5L twin turbo for 2016).

Any word on what the supercharged LT engine code will be?

Higher torque than horsepower, that's pretty awesome.

If there's a ZR1 that thing is going to make ridiculous amounts of power

http://www.cadillac.com/concept-cars/elmiraj.html

The Elmiraj concept was revealed with a 4.5 TT. I doubt they will axe the ZR1 (and if it does show back up to the party, I would imagine it will be sporting a turbo setup derived from the 4.5 TT development). If the Z06 is coming out with 620hp, the ZR1 will have to outclass it.

Is what you've heard just all guesses and speculation like what I've heard, or did it come from a reliable source?

why they could change the line up so the Zl1 and zr1 are on the same level and the z28 and z06 are the same level.

I got to be honest. The HP levels are getting insane. What are they going to release a 700 hp zr1?

The LT4 is what I've heard from a few different sources for the Z06, the LT5 part was just my theory. I was just saying the LT5 RPO would be available for GM to use on a new ZR1, not that the car will be available.

Here's one:

http://wot.motortrend.com/1312_2015_...-engine-spied/

This shows the engine picture with LT4 cast into the blower.

I wouldn't say the ZL1 and ZR1 are on the same level, one is a super car and one is a high power pony car (Camaro has always been 90% of Corvette's ability at 1/2 the price). As for the Z06 and the Z/28 (damn I'm glad the "/" is back! lol), they represent the soul of each platform, the Z/28 being a high-strung small block that has it's roots cleaning house in SCCA showroom stock racing. The Z06 is still true to it's roots from 1963 as a car that could take on Sebring (as a 327) and Daytona (as a 427 race car) with the best of them as a flagship road car.

As for the insane power levels, I'm just fine with it. Just think, one day we may have the entry level Malibu as a 400hp V6 with 35/50mpg and a ZR1 with 1000hp available sitting at the dealership, lol. I don't think any of the manufacturers will be happy unless they have the car with the most HP sitting on the lot, so it's going to be a HP war for a long time to come.

its not like there is not precedents of this. dont forget in the 4th gen the ss out ranked the z28 and now it no longer does. So its is possible that the z06 could out rank the zl1. but we will have to wait and see.

A 400 V6 malibu? god help us all. I just moved to Chesapeake VA. Half the people here cant even drive a 150hp civic. LOL

Just curious when do you reach the point of to much HP for a street car?

i cant wait to see what this thing will weigh. and coupled with that HP i think weve got a great car (duh). wish it was NA but ill take this. hopefully it will be right around 3000lbs doubtful but that would be awesome.

i wonder if they will bring the ZR1 back and whats in store for that one. idk how i feel about a 4.5 unless theyre going DOHC or something really wild.

cant wait for this to be unveiled.

I just picked up the new Hot Rod Magazine (the one with the silver '57 Chevy on the cover), and in the "Starting Line" section they have a 2015 Z06 Spy Report.

-625HP/635TQ - LT4
-Beat ZR1 lap times at Milford
-will be offered with 8L90E auto
-carbon fiber torque tube
-60% stiffer than C6Z
-3 Aero levels available - Z07 is the top package

Quick Reply: Corvette Z06 will have 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of Torque
