Default LmII loud on highway, what is better for cruzing

I have a 2000 ss and cruzing at 80mph is just loud in the cabin of the car. I was looking at the magnaflow and people seem to say it is quiet till you wot. The car only has a lid and potz tb. I will probably do a intake manifold. Slp y pipe because I got it for $50, yes shorties yet again cheap and I want real dyno numbers not just someone saying they suck, and magna flow cats. I was also hoping to get a deeper sound from a different exhaust and like I said before less cabin noise. Thanks guys.

So you're running a ORY? Also is that LM2 located in the I - section of the ORY?

I'm running the factory y now but I'm going to switch to the slp y pipe that bolts to the cats.

Well its only going to get louder with the slp y-pipe over the factory one. Since you didn't mention where the LM2 is located in the exhaust it's kind of hard to get specific

You could add the SLP PowerFlow conversion but it's kind of pricey for just 2 bullet mufflers, hangers, and clamps. I'd just buy 2 6 to 8 inch body bullet mufflers, some clamps, and hangers to put together my own "conversion kit" for half the cost.

IMO, either a Borla 40085, or a Magnaflow 12867. Both have a 5" diameter case.

Slp sells an exhaust like that, but will adding them really make that much of a differance? The exhaust is only 6 months oul so I was thinking of selling it and just getting something not so drone sounding

Using either one of those mufflers as a replacement for the LM II muffler will do a good job of toning down your exhaust, and will fit in place of the SLP muffler with minimal work since they're both almost the same length as the SLP. I've used the Magnaflow 12867 with H/C/I/LT headers and ORY-pipe and dumped right before the factory rear-end and there was no drone and the exhaust tone was very DD friendly while cruising along at 2k rpm.
Another option that should work equally well is to add a Magnaflow 14419 which is 4" diameter with a 14" case length, and use it in conjunction with the LM II muffler. This option will require cutting the I-pipe.

Yea I was thinking that get a magnaflow resonator for where the slp one is, move the slp one to where the factory muffler was and add one of these small ones I found on the passengers 2.5 inch tail pipe.
