Going rate for head and cam install?
Hey guys quick question, what is the normal rate for installing heads and cam. I have a 2004 gto m6. Any shops in Pennsylvania that will do it for a reasonable price? Also people with experience please if you dont mind chime in with what you had to pay. I would have the heads, cam and the other things to go with it minus gaskets. Thanks guys.

Normal rate is $80-$100 per hr labor
Heads/cam install might end up costing 1k-2k in labor depending on what shop and how quickly they can get it done.. Every shop will be a little diffrent
Another option is find someone in the local section and he can help you and you can pay him a 1/3 of what it will cost at a shop

At a shop in CA about $1200 for heads, pushrods, lifters, springs, etc. - Cam is an additional $400, then another $500 for the tune. I have a buddy that does it more reasonable if your near San Diego and does excellent LSX work. Just PM me.

I was thinking about having someone do heads and cam for me this spring since my work schedule is pretty crazy. I called a performance shop in town and they wanted $1700 just for a cam install. Can you believe that!?!

Was that parts and labor? Tune? Are you also changing lifters?

if cam install is parts and labor less tuning that is a little high. If that includes tuning that is a really good rate.

Don't know how far you want to drive but I know a shop in Millersville, MD that does pretty good work. I could give you his contact information. Not sure on price because I've never had a cam/head swap done (I did my last one on my own). Reasonable for all of the work I've had done.

Im getting ready to go full H/C/I with a stall + tune and the labor quote I have is $2475.
Transmission - Removal/installation of torque converter - $460
Tune $450
Cam/Heads - $1500
Lube/Oil/Filter - $65
I spoke to a different shop late last year and they were more vauge but said 2200-2500 which is about where this shop is.
