Default To those without rear defroster

I'm probably going to be looking at a 99 with no rear defroster. My current 98 has one and I do like it on those colder nights. But those who don't have the option...would you prefer if you did? Do you ever find yourself really wishing you had it? Let's hear your thoughts!

My z doesn't have a defroster and I really don't miss it. My vette had one and was nice to have but I could care less one way or the other. A few of the lines on the grid didn't work from the tint but I then again i hardly ever used it. Living in western TX doesn't call for a defroster very often. Lol

If you plan to use the car in the winter, it's a very nice option to have. Otherwise it's not really needed.

When I bought my DD A4 car it had tint and they were unplugged at the hatch. I remember old threads saying there could be problems with tint, and so I left them unplugged. Even in Kansas after 12 years, I've never had a need for it.

It a "comfort" feature. You're in NY so with the cooler temps at night it's likely you would have more of a need than most, however you can still make do without it.

If your car isn't garaged, I would be certain to back into the parking space/driveway when parking for the night once the temps start to drop.

Yeah the car won't be driven in winter. But I keep it out til late October so it does get chilly here in western NY. I can always just let the car warm up more before driving away.

I just wanted to get some opinions and see if it made that much of a difference. Seems like you guys think it's more than manageable without it. Thanks!

I never use the rear defrost on my 98 dd Bird because I am paranoid about messing up my rear window tint. If it's frosted in the winter I use a spray bottle of deicer or wait until the car warms up before I drive. I would say you can live without it.
