I have been looking to do a LS swap for my 81 Malibu and came across a 1999 Tahoe 5.7L with 250,000 miles for 400... Should I buy it? Or not?

The 1999 5.7L would be a small block chevy motor, not the 5.3L LS motor. Look for a 2000-2005 Chevy/GMC for the LS based motor.

I wounder if your 99 was a late production ? I just rebuilt a coworkers 99 chevy suburban with a SBC-5.7L motor.

Either way if the truck has 5.7L its not a LS. The LS truck were either the 5.3L or the 6.0L, they never got the 5.7L from the cars.

Don't do it....it's not the right kind of meat and potatoes that you're wanting.

The trucks started getting the LS engines in 99.
The SUVs didn't get them until 2000.

The LS based 5.3, not 5.7. The 5.7 was a LO5 350 sbc.

I was talking about all LS based engines.

Sierra/Silverado started getting them in 99.
Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban started getting them in 2000.

That goes for the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0

The 3/4ton and 1ton trucks of '99 retained the old body style and 5.7.
