Yes, the wear looks uneven to me. I have seen 200k mile cams that look better than that.

He didnt have any pictures of the lobes when he listed. I thought they looked pretty bad as well when i first opened the box. I just wanted to get everyones opinion. He also claimed it only had 1500 miles. Looks like he ran too long pushrods. Not safe to run it huh? Bad thing is i used $200 of my ebay bucks to get it.

I would definitely want my money back.
That cam looks bad. I'd never run it in an engine.

Does your fingernail catch on any of the wear marks when you lightly drag it over the lobe?
If not it might be possible to have the cam refinished at least in theory.

On some of them they catch just a tad. But it also has two small pitting spots on it i just caught. I told the guy to refund me. He was wanting to get it polished and sent back but i dont trust that. Out of all the cams ive bought in the past, this one is the worst ive seen. If he wouldve taken pictures of the lobes i wouldnt have bought it by looking the way it looks.

Looks quite obvious why there were no pictures of it. Get your money back. You paid $200 for a chunk of steel that belongs in the scrap/recycling pile.

local machine shop could run a buffer wheel over that and it'd be fine. Sorry i dont jump on the me too bandwagon. Most used cams look like this. Should always get pics before buying however.

Are these modern roller cams surface hardened? If so, that is damaged particularly if any more metal is removed. I would think even polished to where it felt okay the thenakedhand the damaged surface would be less than new and may suffer long term.
