Good ol R12! I used to have a `77 Camaro that would blow frost out of the vents sometimes! I have no complaints for the R-134a in the TA. It'll go to low 40s and I can go to 30s if I turn the fan to low.

Looks like it's pushed back to the 14th due to the block not being ready until then. Not a big deal as they may still be able to deliver it back on time. Everything else is there and ready including the heads.

There must be a God in the heavens and HE was looking down on me ..... as I was driving home this morning, I heard some rods knocking. I've also noticed that my oil pressure has been dropping over the past few weeks.
I made it home without slinging anything and the shop get's it on Monday for the build!! The engine was just shy of 376,000 miles.

I recorded the knock ... this afternoon it was non stop knocking when the engine was warm and had been driven.
Does this sound like a rod bearing?

Holy cow, sometimes things just work out huh? Never would’ve known how close you were to the end if they would’ve started the build as originally planned.

So true, so true. The shop is still a week away from getting the block, so rather than have it sit in their shop waiting a week, I elected to send the car on the 21st. The thought was that I can hopefully drive my DD one more week. I made a short trip yesterday and that engine was saying "park me" ... as the sound of bearings and rods thrashed about.
At least this is a rebuildable core.

Well since the TA is done until after the build and I don't feel that the `79 Firebird is a viable DD for the next month (mostly because of no AC ... yet LOL), I bought this today!!

Thanks! I'm not so sure about those badges either. Are those stock?

They are not stock. Those chicklets behind the doors goota go.

That's a sharp car. Love the little add on spoiler. I always thought C6's lacked something on the rear.

I dig it!

agreed. For some reason the c5 rear looks perfect but the c6 having a more modern style overall with such a similar rear looks a little off to me. Not usually a fan of diffusers or spoilers or any “farkle” like that but the c6 and 3rd gen + vipers are two cars that pull it off imo.

Chicklets .... LMAO! Well put.

Yeah ... those are to be removed. I'm guessing a heat gun and some gentle persuasion would get the chicklets gone?

Been a while .... and the build is near completion. Basically it'll be stroked with a custom 226-232 112 cam, headers, LS6 intake, trunion upgrade, fuel pump, upgraded fuel injectors.
Should have it back in the next week or two.

Well .... I'll have to wait a little longer. The shop called saying that the transmission linkage cable will have to be replaced.

We're getting close! The TA was running a bit warmer than it should - during break-in and that's with a 160º thermostat. That in turn had the transmission temps over 200º. So add another radiator and larger trans cooler. I hope to have it back on Friday. I was told that it's a blast to drive!

Well still no word. It makes me wonder what other issues are going on. My gut tells me that I should have kept things more simple. I'll never question the shop because they are top of the line; communication is not the quickest but that's not a big deal - they're busy. There have apparently been a lot of issues along the way - so this build goes on .......
