Default Car Seat

Hi everyone, I’m a new mom & I’m looking for recommendations/information on installing a car seat in the back seat of my 2002 WS6. I need it to be rear-facing for my 2 month old.

Infant car seats that are rear facing can be used on the back seats of F-Bodies.

Is that "can" or "cannot"? Athough it might somehow be possible, the child would have to be placed in the car seat outside the car, and then the seat strapped in by some convoluted arrangement. 4th gens were equipped for forward facing car seats in the rear.

If you are still looking, I used a grace snug ride 35. The one with the base. I removed the rear seat and stuck the base on the floor. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow.

You can use a rear facing car seat. I can't give you a modern version of what works as my oldest is a sophomore in high school. That was the last time I had a car seat in a F body. The problem I ran into was not having the rear seat tethers.

I put a towel under the rear side, and have the seat adjusted as high as it will go.
it was actually my preferred car for long drives alone, because the baby will sit within arms reach and you can look them in the face

It's required by law for infants and thank you for showing the community that you CAN put a rear facing car seat in a 4th Gen Fbody car. My only reason for posting in the first place was that we had a rear facing car seat in our 97 Z28 back in 1999.

Thats smart. I never thought about removing the lower part of the seat.

This was the last time I did it. I can't believe he is a sophomore now. I went home the day he came from the hospital and I brought my Z back and he came home in it. I had always loved hearing the stories of kids that were born in the muscle car era and that dad took mom to the hospital or took them home in a muscle car.

I bet there aren’t many stories like that about 1980’s babies where the car is still around.

I couldn’t get ours to work without removing the seat.

Also to clarify, I connect the seat base to the seatbelt brackets.

I’ll post some updates in the near future when I swap to a forward facing seat

I came home from the hospital in a 83 Formula stick car. My parents bought it new and I rode in the back seat until my dad sold it in 90. I think it barely had 30k on it.

Not a musclecar, but my oldest daughter came home in a 1971 BMW 2002. I don't remember what kind of car seats we had in those days, if any..
