Angry Amazing car insurance RAPE!

Im 20 but havnt needed to buy my own car or get insurance untill now. I have never crashed or goten into trouble with the law so i figure it wont be much money at all, esp since im 20. I go online and look at some FWD imports for an every day car thats decent in the rain/snow ect.. Im in the 8000-10,000 range for price, so i start leaning tword a 99 prelude or 01 Eclipse. I ask the bank how much my monthly loan would be and they say 250. good so far.

NOW FOR THE FUNNY PART

I then go to geicos online quote giver, and this is what it told me for the LOWEST PACKAGE YOU CAN GET.

2001 Eclipse GT: 784 month
1999 Prelude SH: 784 month

Then i figure, well i guess these are "sports cars" , so i put in a 1999 4 door Cavalier.

1999 Cavalier 4 door: 583 month

WOW WTF IS THAT??? a 80hp ugly cav is 583 month for minimum insurance?

Do you guys pay like 5000 a month for your camaros? im afraid to type in a real car on there, i might puke.....

i think im gona be walking to work with prices like that....

Are you sure your looking at that right I would assumes its paid every 6 months. I pay 174 a month for three cars but I'm 24.

Reread the webpage that 784 you got should be every 6 months not every month.

Something isn't right with the matrix they have you falling under. Shop around. Ask them what they are bassing their quote on. There is something in their paperwork that's telling them you're a dangerous driver. You need that information. It could be something like a crazy with the same name as you...

Good luck man. Sorry to hear about the frustration.

PS: I'm 26 w/ 1 accident, and 3 tickets. I pay about $275 a month for full coverage on my SS.

I'm 24 and pay $298 for an 02 Z28, 03 Mustang GT, and a 96 Cherokee. Those numbers look very off. Have you tried State Farm? They were the lowest for me by almost $100/month.

I'm 24, had insurance through geico for 6 months on my WRX, at like 1300 for the six months (I prefer to pay my premium up front and save a little). They then wanted to jack my rates up to like 1700 every six. I said F that, even with 1 accident (at fault) and the 2 tickets they knew about. Well, I got an online quote from esurance and since they only look back 3 years, that meant the 2 tickets. Dropped my insurance down to about 950 every 6 months. I hell of a big drop. Geico (from personal experience) is not competative (maybe if you're spotless), but they just have great advertising. Now, I have one active point, so who knows if my rates will go up a bit in Oct. when I'm due to renew.

we used to have AIG at my house (south jersey) and before i owned a car, it was ~ 4 grand a year for my parent's cars, a silverado, cavalier and a vibe. i added my car and we switched to mercury. mercury is lower with all 4 of our cars than AIG before i ever added myself to the plan1

give mercury a shout. no complaints here, and this is NJ, the highest auto insurance (and everything else) rates in the USA.

You're going to want to shop around, because those are ridiculous rates. I'm 22, and have a spotless record and get a few discounts here and there, and I pay $1800 a year for Geico with 500/500 deductibles in California, which isn't much cheaper than NJ (I know, I used to live there).

I was going to post the exact same thing

I've never heard of ANYBODY paying that much for auto insurance

I pay $474.00 every 6 months for my Z and I'm a 25 year old single male living in SoCal. How could you (ZeroFear) pay more to insure yourself for one month than I do for 6 months? That's just insane

My insurance was a little messed up when i first got my '99 TA. They (Geico) wanted 960.00 up front for the first 2 months and then 550.00 a month after that and like a dumbass i paid that for a year. I had a clean record, no tickets or anything EVER, also i was 20. now that im 22, 1 ticket and 1 wreck later (not my fault) my insurance is 230.00 a month... go figure...

Something's not right...there's no way it could be $500/month for a cavalier.
