That is so freakin lame...It happens I guess, I have lost quite a few friends that were ignorant enough to run em down on the streets, some killing others even... It's said when anyone dies... but especially when they're so young.

My tactic for avoiding street races is giving a little blow off valve warning, generally no one will want any, and if they do, I enjoy watching them take off like we're racing while I still have the cruise control set.

Condolences to the family, and may he find his way to LS1 heaven. =\

theres a time and a place for all of that stuff, if its some grudge match, then find a desolate road, or agree to meet at the track.

guess that kind of puts us in check, no matter what your HP is or your torque you can still end up like this. Respects to the family.

1. Sorry to hear... my condolences and all that...

(stop reading here if you don't like being offended)

2. Thats what they call: Natural Selection. Don't race on public roads. find a place out in the middle of nowhere. that video didn't exactly look like "nowhere's-ville"

3. Unfortunatly, its nice to hear that the racer was the one who paid for his own actions, unlike what you hear with drunk driving most of the time.

Dangerous? That car crumpled up so that you could live to type another day. It absorbs the impact so that your *** doesn't come flying through that winshield. Would you rather have a wrecked front clip or be paralyzed???

I got run over by a semi @ 55mph in an f-body and I couldn't have wished for a safer car. It totally rocked my world and I walked away fine - that damn car took a beating.

you can view diffrennt cars here:
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testing/ncap/

Front impact
front drivers: 4 star
Front passenger: 5 star

Side impact:
Front occupant: 3 star
rear occupant: 4 star

i guess it depends on the years.

It's a shame that young guy had to pay with his life.

Let's try to keep it on the track guys. Not trying to be a hypocrite, because I have certainly done my share of midnight grudge matches. Now that I am older, sader, and wiser I flat out tell local hotshots "let's meet at the track". If they disrespect you and call you scared, brush 'em off. You're not scared, you're smart.

No we don't. The vast majority of American's could not safely handle that. No way we could get everybody to drive the way the Germans do. The Germans have much tougher rules for obtaining a license that ensures people actually know how to handle their cars and know the rules of the road....and it's more expensive too.

My state doesn't even require driver's ed, you should see how people drive.

Even one simple concept is beyond the capacity of many Americans, and is absolutey crucial to the safe operation of the Autobahn........lane discipline. You do not go slow in the left lane. No way you could keep people from going too slow in the left lane, which becomes disastrous in no time with high speed.

Don't even get started on DUI....
