Default Going to buy 00-02 formula/TA

Well i decided I am gonna let the old 95 formula go in hopes of finding a 2000-2002. formula-formula WS6- or formula firehawk. lol i just like the style. if not I will settle for the TA. What would be the best choice of body style/performance. Also want it to be M6. are there any big motor differences from 2000-2002. would a 2002 be my best bet to get or no. also no CETA to much $$ for a yellow ws6 TA.

2001 + had the LS6 intake and no EGR. That's about the only thing different from the 2000's I can think of. Not like it's a big issue to pick up a LS6 intake later, or go with a FAST 90 if you plan on modding. There may be some very very minor "spec" changes, but it's nothing that you should worry about.

But after reading your post, get the Formula. If you want a Formula really bad, don't get a Trans Am unless you will be happy with that as well. You shouldn't have to "settle" for anything other than what you want. Good luck.

I voted WS6 Formula just because I have one. Probably gonna be harder to find since they didnt make too many. None after 2000.

wat is a formala ws6?? ive had my z28 for a year and a half and i got into the f-body scene almost 3 yrs ago and this is the first ive ever heard of a formula ws6. i know the formula was the v6 firebird body primarily w/ the lt1 for the 93 to 97 yrs. other than that, i dont know anything about the whole formula/firehawk world. im a camaro guy, so dont bash me too hard lol. all i know is, if you see fancy lettering underneath the sidemolding, dont mess with that bird!!!

formula is the v6 body style with the LS1 or LT1 depending on year and just like the addition of things like ram air hoods ect. to T/A the same is done the the v6 body when it is a formula. they are much more rare to find. as in my sig my f-body is a firebird body with the LT1 making it a formula. They also did not come with the leather seats (unless ordered) and extra body moldings making them actually lighter then the T/A.

Get what you like. We couldn't find a Ws6 in the price we wanted so the wife found a T/A. I am buying the ram air hood to give it that aggressive look.

Formula Firehawks are rare. So are Formula WS6 cars. Either way you'll be paying a lot more just to get one, so unless you plan on using it as a collector/show car, might as well just skip that and get the base Formula and add the hood of your choice later.

Not sure on Firehawk build numbers, but only 232 (or very close to that number) Formula WS6 cars were built in '00, and that was the last year for the option. Won't be easy to find one now that they're 6 years old on top of having so few to begin with.

Hmm well are there any main engine differences from 98-2002 other than the egr and LS6 intake.

62 Formula Firehawks made that year....damn I thought mine was rare. There were 106 made in '99. But mine's 1 of 3 . Anyway, other than the LS6 intake, EGR delete and different A.I.R. system, there isn't much difference. Like mentioned above, you can get a LS6 intake for $325.00, so get whatever year you want.

i LOVE my formula. nothing like the V6 look with a V8 motor! awesome sleeper. or if you want the WS6 look buy a hood. formulas are sooooo much cheaper than a WS6 and you can get a hood for a tad over a grand painted. considering you save thousands on a formula of equal condition and miles in comparison to a WS6, it makes it a no-brainer IMO.

get the formula. T/A's and WS6's are everywhere. i rarely ever find a formula.

This is true.

I've said in the past and I'll state again, I think if I had it to do over again, there is a good chance I would have bought a WS6 Formula in '00 rather than my WS6 T/A.

After checking the differences it seems like there all good i think i might try to go with an 01-02 tho because i probably will not be doing many mods other than headers, exhaust, and lid. for awhile. Thx for all the imput I hope I can find a formula m6 in thoses years but if not oh well its still an LS1 not many of any f-body around here but v6 and a lot of cocky stang owners.

It will cost you noticably more to get the newer models but in the end I think the 01+ are the better choice even if it is for minor differences.
