Glad you accepted the fact that you were wrong. When I bought my '86 TA, the guy who sold it to me bragged about putting in a tranny from a '91 Z28 (4L60 I believe) and said "and I shift it manually because it's faster... you already know that of course." I didn't even want to open that one up.

An A4 will do all the right things you want it to when you go WOT, so leave it in D.

My first time out racing a stick my car ran 13.2 @110mph. With some practice I have it down to a 12.97 @108mph with the mods in my sig. The best 60' I cut was on the 12.97 pass at 2.02. With more practice she will be in the 12.80's.

On the other hand I talked with several m6 guys at the track and non of them could crack 105mph in the quarter. I guess it depends on the driver. But stock for stock and good drivers the m6 will usually always win.

The 6 speed takes a special driver. I would say most people (not all) can't drive a 6 speed good enough to beat an A4. But once someone has gotten REALLY GOOD stock for stock I would give 1 or 2 tenths and 2-3 mph better on the M6 int the 1/4.

BTW I heard down shifting an A4 is very bad for the tranny? Is this Ture???
And you A4 guys, just let the compertur shift for you, it knows what it's doing.

I think that this is when you throw in a 3600 stall and ask the question over again!
