I have seen several 02 cars in the 330-340 range stock with tunning. Right at where most 98-00's are with headers.

I have an 00 SS, and did get 12.8 @ 110 with just tunning on stock tires, but have seen more 02's in the 12's in stock trim. We have a local guy running 12.1 with lid/Cat-back tunnning & suspention mods in his 02 firehawk.
Sure you just aren't simply see'n the factory freeks?! Alot of motors just perform better than others of the same year.

Example: budy of mine has a 00 just like mine but he just has a lid,stb and a new cat back and he wipes the floor with me on every run. Some motors just pump harder than others.

Personally I wish I had held out for an 01, but I love my car. Just can't wait to change out the shortblock.

98-00 had the same size cam. 98 got 28lb injectors, 99-00 had 26lb injectors. 01's and 02's had 28lb injectors.

I'd like proof of the last two honestly!

I'm not sure WS6 Rampage has a clue. Yeah i always thought i've saw/heard 99's had the largest stock cam. Either way, let's be real. Basically the same F**kin cars!
To put it in perspective, would you pay more for a 1995 honda accord or same car same name that's a 2000?

I found a black 01 SS that is closer to me and he needs to get rid of it pretty bad so I might get a deal on it. What do you guys think I should pay for a nice SS with 26k miles black and a 6-speed? Only mod is a catback exhaust.

The reason 01 was low selling (6,332 SS's), compared to other years, was the early build out (May 01) to get the 35th models out.

Exactly. Just so few made in '01.
If that SS is really clean with 26k, then $17,000-$18,000 would be OK. Try to get it for less of course.

just for perspective there is a black 2000 ss with 50k bone stock, and the owner is willing to sell it for 11000. i would expect ~16k to be fair for the one you're looking at

I know, that's why I purchased my 2001, and not a 2002. I heard they were going to do this back in the early 2001 model year.
